Nemo's Weekday Update

Well for the first time in a long time I actually have visited a park on a weekday which wasn't a holiday. I'm usualy there only on weekends or holidays. And I must say I enjoyed this very much. The park is barely packed at all. I went on Thursday, a day after I performed in the Candlelight Processional. Here's your update, enjoy!

-Trees near the Walt and Mickey statue are indeed gone. And the whole area looks different without them. It will give more viewing spots for Wishes though, so hey that's a good thing.

-When I rode The Haunted Mansion, the singing busts weren't working. There faces were just frozen, and no Grim, Grinning Ghosts could be heard from them either. Anyone shed some light on this?

-I went into The Yankee Trader, which is right outside HM, and the place is full of HM and NBC stuff. There was also a spot with some Pirates of the Caribbean stuff as well.

-Pirates of the Caribbean DVDs are on sale now at like every gift shop. They want $20.00 for the VHS, and $30.00 for the DVD! Crazy I tell you, I got my DVD at Circuit City for like $16.99.

-A NEW PIN HAS BEEN RELEASED! They released it on the 11th. It is a star with Mickey's face in the front, and the star lights up and twinkles. The man showed it to me at the pin cart in TL (BTW the reciepts say Geiger's Counter from there:lol: ). $15.00 though, and I'd rather have the Fantasmic one. And he also said it was the first pin in which you are able to replace the battery.

-Well, some PhilarMagic news here. My brother told me this. He said they were at PM, and they waited 45 min. cause the ride broke down, and then they said it was opening in 5 min., so they waited and then they said they had to test it, and minutes later they said they had to close it and they gave everyone free FastPasses to return. This is what he told me, and I believe he said it was around 1 PM. I rode at 10:30 and walked on, and everything worked fine. My hyopthesis for them having to close it is maybe something happened with the Donald AA.

-Lines on a typical December weekday-PhilarMagic the only thing we waited for was in the big blue room for them to open the doors, HM was walk-on, Pooh was 15 min, Peter Pan was 20, Buzz was walk-on, Space Mountain advertised 10 which became 25, Jungle Cruise was 20, Pirates was 5 min, Splash Mountain was an incredible WALK ON (hey, it was freezing, that's probably why no one was riding, but thats good for me and my friends, we rode twice), Big Thunder Mt. was 15 (we got FP's for it though, and rode Splash twice waiting to get on BTMR), and it's a small world was at 15. Everything was basically under 15 minutes. Just a very enjoyable time.

-I had a dirt cup at the Main St. Bakery, and man those things are SO GOOD. Y'all gotta try them!

Well that's all I have now. See ya on the boards!:D

I saw the same thing when I rode a week ago. It was fixed when I rode again a few hours later. Probably just some weird glitch.

-I'd also like to note there's a new spiel in Pirates, right after the boat leaves the loading area it plays. Someone had mentioned it in another topic, and I thought i'd mention it's up and running. They say to keep your hands, arms, and legs inside the boat at all times and no flash photos.

-Also, only the right side on Space Mountain was running in the morning. When we were in line though we saw cars testing on the left side. Does this always happen, or did something go wrong? That's why the line was about 25 minutes after the front said stand-by waiting was only 10.

although I can't say that I know why our favorite singing busts were silent, I do know that the laserdisc systems they converted the effects over to in the mid-90's are starting to become very faulty. a while ago I was ringing up an Imagineer at Merchant of Venus and he mentioned that there are tentative plans in place to totaly computerize the projection systems.

they have, however, retuned the lights that shine on the busts in an effort to make the faces look less like projections. the blue underlighting is effective, but still not as good as they've gotten the effect at Disneyland. the candlelights in the first room (where you pass under the staircase) are now significantly brighter as well, and you can actually make out the (long obscured) door behind the candelabrum!

a while ago I went through late one night and Leota was totally dark. that was weird.

Thanks for the update! That must've been weird with the singing busts just staring at you and doing nothing whatsoever.

BTW, why is there always a problem with the AA of Donald's butt at Philarmagic? Its just a simple AA. I don't understand it!

I dont think it was closed due to the Donald AA, cuz I have seen the show without it. Only one time has it not worked, the other times it has worked fine. Philharmagic has been having various technical problems since the AP opening which was back in September, so I dunno.

Thanks for the update

I was there this past week.

I also noticed the absence of "Grim, Grinning Ghosts" and the faces not moving on HM.

And it was more crowded than I expected it to be. Especially MGM on Thursday... not sure why, it seemed like a pretty busy weekend crowd rather than a December weekday for some reason.

Also, the wait time on Big Thunder Mountain was very wrong at one point... if I remember, it said a 10 minute wait and it was most definitely longer than that.

Splash Mountain was a walk-on for us too... we actually also rode it twice in a row and the CM asked us if we wanted to stay on but we were already wet enough, lol

Hmm, I know a few guys who went to MGM Thursday, they said it wasn't that bad. It did seem like there was a lot of people when we first walked into MK, but it turned out that the lines were short. I didn't think it would be packed though, my parents had gone to Epcot after a trip to Melbourne about 5 Tuesdays ago, and they said everything was walk-on.

Back in October, we were in PhilharMagic when it did three false starts before shutting down for maintenance. Each time, the movie started, but then the curtain failed to open and the projections were on the curtain instead of the screen.
