Nemo vs. Lion King in AK

Zummi Gummi

Pioneering the Universe Within!
Finding Nemo is by far the stronger show, and includes all live vocals (only the four leads are live in FOLK). It's also got a much more cohesive plot (essentially a 35 minute version of the film), while FOLK is just a collection of musical numbers with some old parade floats popping in.

That being said, younger kids will probably enjoy FOLK more.

Another vote for Lion King. I fall asleep every time my wife wants to go see Nemo. I'd love to try and stay awake, but I just keep nodding off. Maybe one day I'll see the entire show!

Festival of the Lion King is one of my favorite things to do in WDW. So much talent it is just amazing. Nemo is a nice show too so I try and see it once a trip but I can miss it. Festival of the Lion King is something I have to do multiple times a trip. I also have the Festival of the Lion King CD that I play often once I am home.

Where would one acquire this CD?

I'll chime in here. Festival of Lion King is EPIC!!! It is soul-moving and awe-inspiring. Fun stuff.

I've never ever fallen asleep while watching ANYTHING at WDW...except the Finding Nemo musical. I kid you not!

The Nemo show is spectacular for what it is but my goodness are the seats uncomfortable given how long the show is. Lion King all the way. The seats still suck but the show is not too long, upbeat, and features some cool puppet/animatronic characters.

I'm sorry to say that I was underwhelmed by both shows. Strictly for little kids, in my opinion. Disney can do better.

I have to partially agree... but I wasn't sure it was even good for little kids. My little kids didn't like either one and were fidgety and bored. I assumed it was aimed at old people... Frankly I would think the poster would be better off renting the videos for her kids now and seeing which they enjoyed if either and then taking them the one they prefer. Or better yet take them to see the Little Mermaid or Belle... both of which were better than Lion King or Nemo.

Really?!?!

FotLK has to be the best show on property - the music and acrobatics are incredible. They have some seriously talented performers in that show. I wasn't a huge fan of Nemo though, Nemo is on my "escape from the rain" list.

I LOVE Nemo - it's my favorite! My 6-yo loved it so much that we got the soundtrack and we have the entire thing memorized. :) I was disappointed in Festival of the Lion King, only b/c I was expecting something similar to the Broadway show when I saw it, and it's nothing like that!

I say the Nemo show. I've seen both and it has to be the best in my opinion. Its much larger and bigger of a show. I prefer the songs in the Nemo one as well. Lion King show is alright but it didn't leave me personally wanting to see it again. Yeah you got some acrobats jumping around as monkeys but it doesn't beat seeing giant fish puppets haha.

I am with you.
I think Nemo is more creative, and absolutely ingenious. The Puppet work is fantastic, and the songs are catchy, and I do think the performances are really strong.
Nemo has the Broadway Musical thing down, for sure.

On the other hand, Lion King has the Cirque factor going for it.
It's a shorter show, and has amazing energy to spare. And of course, the soundtrack is great as well.
But it reminds me too much of all the circus/cirque type shows I have seen.

For little kids that haven't seen the films? Nemo tells the whole tale really well, while the Lion King doesn't really have a story, but makes up for it in energy.

Nemo is much more geared to adults IMHO. It is a broadway-style show w/ live voices and performers: fabulous puppetry, very talented actors!
On the other hand, FOTLK has great acrobats and interactive elements to the show.
Tough call. Both shows are incredible! Hopefully you will be able to see both.;)

I'll echo the majority and go with Festival of the Lion King. Animal Kingdom hosts my two favorite WDW stage shows, but even though I love them both I'll concede that Lion King is much better than Nemo.

I must differ alot from everyone here becuase I really don't like Festival of the Lion King, but for kids I think it's great. Mainly because of everything going on. Finding Nemo seems to be more of an adult type of show, whereas Lion King is a little interactive and has so much going on with all the acrobats and animatronics. The kids are sure to enjoy that.
I enjoyed Lion King for what it was, but I just adore Finding Nemo. I can't go to Animal Kingdom without seeing it. But I am a big Broadway fan, so that is probably why.
