Needed!!! Any and All Info You can Give me on The Polynesian Resort!!!

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
Hi folks just about a week since i returned from 3 weeks at the world and this has been my 1st chance to post! Il try put together a report tonight but 1st im looking for all available info on the Polynesian Resort!!
On our trip we ate at the Grand Floridian 1 night and afterwards it was too late to hit the parks so we headed to the Polynesian and watched Wishes from the beach panned out on a sun lounger and we instantly fell in love with the resort! A week later we ate at Ohana for breakfast and loved it, the juice and bread are gorgeous :slurp: We then explored the resort and it is an amazing place with a great feel to it so we decided we were gonna stay there for 3 to 4 weeks on our next visit to the world.
I Have a few questions for Poly veterans out there;

What are the rooms like?
How is Ohana for dinner?
How is the kona cafe??
Is it worth it to book a mk view room?? (i like the idea of opening my room door onto the beach:lol:) Or would i be just as well off with a cheaper room??
Any opinions on the ohana dinner show??
Wanted to try it this year but it just could not be fitted in!

Im sure ive more questions but i cant think of them, any info or info sources would be great as would your opinions of the Poly from past vacations there
Thanx in advance and i look forward to hearing from you all :sohappy::wave:

We have never stayed at the Poly but we do make a point of stopping there on our trips to dine. We have enjoyed meals at O'Hana character breakfast, O'hana dinner, and the Spirit of Aloha show. By and far the dinner at O'hana is one of our favorites at the kingdom! It is served "family" style, just as is the morning character breakfast. They have several courses and bring them in serving dishes for the family to share. When we were there in Dec 2008 for dinner we actually had two wait staff for our dinner meal. When it comes time for the main course the meat selections are brought out on long skewers directly from the fire pit in the middle of the room. It is a great meal. We have to miss it in Sept due to it being completely booked:(.

We did the Spirit of Aloha show in Dec 2005 and it was also a wonderful "family" style meal with a dinner show. You start with salad and the fresh pineapple, then the meal is chicken and ribs, rice, veggies, with a 'molten" chocolate desert. You don't want for anything at either O'hanas or the Spirit of Aloha show, if your platter is empty or cup empty it is filled again. I couldn't eat the desert so they brought me out more pineapple - about a 1/4 of a whole pineapple. The show was wonderful, a bit corney at times but that is how it is supposed to be. The dancers are very, very skilled in their dance and represent their cultural dances very, very well.

Some day I am going to convince DH that we are going to stay at the Poly.

I hope u can convince him, coz iv had some convincing to do myself even though we both fell in love with the resort, coz its gonna cost us alot more to stay at the poly for 4 weeks than it did at pop for 3  but its just so gonna be worth it without a doubt :sohappy:

We stayed here in March 2007 when I was pregnant with our first son. We thought this would be a good choice for us since we were there for both our 7th anniversary and our "babymoon". It was very relaxing! We stayed in Tuvalu with the MK view. We knew since I was pregnant that we'd be spending a lot of time in our room and we sure did! It was nice to come back every night and sit on our balcony and have a view of the water, castle, fireworks and water parade. Sooooo relaxing! We only went to the pool one day and it was quite crowded, so didn't go back. Pool was smaller than we thought it would be too. We didn't care for the counter service food there either. It got old quick when there wasn't much to choose from. A lot of times if we were going to eat something like that, we'd go to the Contemporary counter service and eat there before going back to the resort. We love rooms that drop right off to the water, so it was perfect for us. Wouldn't hesitate to go back! You will have a very relaxing time! The Luau was nice too. We didn't do this on this trip, but did it a few years before. Very good food and a nice show to get you into the polynesian mood. Never had any transportation issues. When we first checked in, they gave us a smoking room, so we went back to the front desk and the cm seemed absolutely clueless that that was a smoking room. They moved us to a different room but only to have someone smoke on their balcony right beside us the whole trip. So, being non-smokers and also pregnant, that was our biggest issue. There were lots that we didn't do that wish we would've, but someday we'll get to do them all! Our son kicked for the first time as we were leaving our room the first day, so that's a memory we'll always have there.

I Just love ur time at the polynesian, it sounds like a blast, u just so enjoyed urself im hopin 4 the same experience but from the prices ive seen so far i prob wont be able to justify the lagoon/mk views coz it really just does not seem worth an extra 2000 dollars per fortnight for this

Loved the Polynesian! We stayed there for the very first time in January 2008. It was also the first time staying at a WDW Resort.

Words can't describe how nice it was so, just check my photo links at my signature for photos of the Polynesian :)

The volcano pool is nothing to spectacular. Basic size, 0 entry section and slide through the volcano. Not much different from other resorts, definitely nothing to go out of your way for. JMHO

Water Pageant times:

Polynesian Resort -- 9 p.m.
Grand Floridian -- 9:15 p.m.
Wilderness Lodge -- 9:35 p.m.
Fort Wilderness -- 9:45 p.m.
Contemporary Resort -- 10:05 p.m.

Many think O'hana for dinner is one of the best dining experiences. I think it's OK, but not a fav. It is all you can eat with an interesting serving style. There are casual games (mostly for the kids) that can make the place a bit noisy. With that said, if you haven't done it, you should give it a try.

Tonga Toast you say????

Tonga Toast, at Kona, is the best thing I've ever put in my mouth!! I've been enjoying for years.
