Need your B-Day advice

My mother turned 65 this year and she is a big Disney fan. My 13 year old son and I are taking her to Disney as a birthday gift (All-Star Sports for 7 days + DDP). I am looking for some suggestions to make our trip extra special (on a budget).

This will be our 9th trip together (10th for her). It is more about appreciating each other and spending time together than rushing around the parks.

1) I have pre-purchased Disney themed gifts to leave in the room for her (Disney watch, T-shirts, candies...) - one gift each day. Any other ideas?
2) Her favourite Restaurant is Chef Mickey (loves the characters). We have dinner reservations. Anything special we can do there?
3) Can I still get her a birthday button even though her birthday is months before we leave?

Thanks for your help!

Rule of the thumb is, you can only use a birthday button if your birthday was at the most 6 months before your visit or if the next birthday is no more than six months away :D

We're celebrating Mom's birthday during our mother/daughter trip, she'll be 72 years young, her birthday is on November 9th but we only arrive at Disney on the 11th. She'll get a button and wear it produdly everyday!

When you make your reservation make sure to note you're celebrating a birthday. At CM they'll most likely give her a card signed by all characters plus she might get a special dessert. You might want to note her birthday in all reservations to up the chance of a free cupcake or a special dessert.

I'm ordering balloons to be delivered once we check in.

If you can sneak away, go to the barber at Magic Kingdom and ask for some Disney confetti to sprinkle over her bed. I believe you can also ask for confetti at guest relations.

When meeting her favorite character, be sure to mention you're celebrating her birthday and the trip was a gift to her.

I hope this helps and happy birthday to your mother!

Thanks LucyK. That was great advice. I was just posting on your pre-trip report. I hope your mom has a wonderful birthday too. Confettti - I never would have thought to ask.

How do I do this?
I was going to ask the Disney Mom Panel, but I recently learned on these boards that their responses are not always accurate.

She will love it. Its about time things were all about her for a change. How do I note it on the reservation? Can it be done online or should I call them?

I love it!!!
1. Get window clings that are for a birthday or party and put them on you room window. We do this when we go at Christmas or Easter (we stay at All Stars) and it is cute to see your window festive whenever you walk up. I have even seen people put home made signs & streamers in the window.
Just make sure to pack the window clings when you head home (of course my must have item that I pack are baggies for loose items :D) and use the window clings in your scrapbook.
2. Ask for a balloon or two at check in. They are free and a cute festive addition to your room.
3. At check in, ask for a "I'm celebrating" button for you & your son. Then, whenever asked what you are celebrating, you can say her birthday!!!

How about trying something new? Maybe a dinner show like Hoop De Hoo?

You could look up unique photo poses, meet a bunch of characters and make a photobook for her. You could even add pictures from past trips.

It is best to call. You should add it to your resort reservation; then for dining call the dining number and say that you are adding a celebration - they will note it within the system. I am not sure if they will do it for multiples ones or just one. I went to Ohana a few days after my bday and it was great
