I guess it is really my shoulder muscles that get sore. i don't think I swing too much, but will DEF check that later tonight when we run.
Erin - Sore shoulder muscles are very common for new runners. As you increase your distance, you are likely tensing your shoulder muscles with the effort. If your shoulder muscles start to ache, try to consciously relax those muscles and shake out your arms and let them swing loosely at your sides for a few moments. Unless you're really going for speed or you're running up a hill, there is no need to pump your arms, and you will have more energy to run farther overall if you keep your shoulders relaxed.
