I am hoping this link will show up right for you. I have one of these and it is really nice to have on long trips. Pack it without them watching you so they get to discover what is inside.

I would also suggest neck pillows that go around the neck like this one because they do not slip down.

I made a tupper ware thing up that has typical emergency kit stuff. Things like band aids, bug bite spray, sun burn lotion, antacids, pain reliever, sun screen, a small sewing kit. I always keep that in my mini van no mater what.

If you look on ebay using the search words; "travel games." You might find some things your kids will enjoy. I think it helps to take frequent breaks for little ones so they can stretch their legs a bit. We often times will stop for picnics at parks when it is time to eat.

I have an 8yr old and the Nintendo DS is really great for traveling.

Car shades are great too, the kind that clings to the window.

I also get small toys ahead of time that I surprise him with along the way. Things like travel games and stuff that will keep him preoccupied a while.

Good luck to you! :)

My daughter loves the kids' Clif bars in honey graham. Also shelled walnuts and of course the classic goldfish crackers and pretzels-- living in Phoenix we've learned what fares well in the hot car
