Need Help With Post Vacation Depression

As I type this I'm walking from my room at the Coronado to have breakfast and check out.
It's silly how sad I get when leaving WDW.
I found this website a year after my last vacation.
My son told me he loved the vacation because of the memories and because we spent 24/7 as a family.
Really sad!

I'm the same way. My addiction started with the planning of our first family trip, but didn't really grab a hold of me until I saw how much it meant to my son. Now I rely heavily on the "support group" here until I can afford a return trip with the family. We are Blessed to have had the chance to go in the first place!

The worst part is how jealous I am of the people checking in and of the folks on here and in my FB timeline who talk about their current or upcoming trips. :-/

We struggle with this sometimes. We stay offsite at a rental and get quickly into a routine, and pretty soon it feels like we live there. Going back to our regular life (in a pretty rural area) can be difficult! We try to plan fun local stuff as soon as we get back to give us more together time, and to remind us why we like living where we do.

Agreed!! DS always cries at the end of a trip because it is so depressing to leave the fun of all the good family time. And I definitely need a tissue as we walk out.

It's because of this that we try to have an idea of when we'll be back before we leave! Start planning your next trip!! :)

My cure for WDW depression is to start planning my next trip as soon as I get home! What I missed this trip, what's imperative I do next trip (including many repeats-lol) and just which resort next time??? I may not even have a date yet, but I plan plan plan! We're going this December and I'm already thinking about a New Years Eve trip at ybe end of '16! The WDW forums and message boards help!

I know the feeling as we only get to go every 2 or 3 years. Posting the TR, with all the pictures helps as does planning your next vacation even if you don't know exactly when you're going! Lots of Disney movies and on the Christmas after we get back my boys always bring a smile to my face when they unwrap the gifts I managed to get for them when they weren't looking on the trip!

I cry when I get there, I cry when I leave... every single time! I even cry at some of the parades.
For me, the end of vacation is like the magic dying out of the pumpkin scene in Cinderella. You go home and all the magic slowly gets put away or blends in with all the "normal" life that's wrapped around it - consuming it like the life-draining monster it is. And you have to tell yourself things like "if it were Christmas every day I wouldn't appreciate it, blah, blah..."
Like Nonna, I like to use my left over excitement to dream about my next trip. I get to research resorts and restaurants I haven't been to, and come to the forum and be the one to answer questions instead of asking them for a change, etc.

Theres nothing worse than seeing others anticipating all the fun they are going to have and you know tomorrow youll be back at work, grinding out a living. :banghead: Two minutes after you check out you are thinking ... Wait, where did all my days go??? We all join you in your pain, weve all suffered through it at the end of every trip and theres no avoiding it. But the good thin is... theres always another Disney trip in the future. Start saving for it now. ;)

My trip isn't until October.
I do get the feeling of depression when I leave. My best cure for it is sleeping on the trip back (Cause though I'm sad to leave, I'm almost happy to go home cause I'm exhausted and don't feel like moving much after.)

But yeah, keep in mind you'll eventually go back.
We always do. :)

I feel exactly the same way as you every single time!! Lol never fails. I see all those people arriving and I get jealous and it adds to the depression I am feeling. I even am a DVC member now and know I will/should be back God willing, but I still get in a funk. I just try to tell myself I will be back and it kinda works but not really. lol. Sorry I can't be of better help. Lol :)

Thanks everyone!
We're not annual Disney goers so we go every 2-3 years which on one end sucks but on the other, there are new things for us to see but the planning for the next trip is limited for not knowing when the next trip is but I do like the idea of looking back on what was good, bad, things missed, etc. Gonna do that for sure!
It was 3 years is between trips but in two years I turn 35 and my son finishes elementary school. Hopefully that's enough to convince my wife...fingers crossed!

Then you're already luckier than us. We only get back once every 7-9 years.
And I just realized something... I've been saying my 5th trip is coming up, but it's only going to be my 4th! I'm so behind!!!!

I always cry when I leave MK for the last time, I take one last good look at the Castle and get teary eyed...I also tend to cry a little on the ME bus back to the airport...But as soon as I get home, I start planning my next trip, even if it's 2 years away, it still helps to cure post Disney depression!:)
