So for booking at a non-home resort it's 7 months out. I get that part. And we want BCV so that means wait-listing. But how long after we are put on a wait-list will we find out if we get that resort? Would it be like a month or two or is it that you find out like a month before you go? I'm new at this so I need lot's of help!! Also, what happens if we can't get our first or second or third choice? Does that mean we just can't go on vacation? I've been told the time we are going isn't busy at all( Last week of October and 1st week in Nov.)

Make your choices first, see what happens. Worst case scenario, you get a room at one of the less busy resorts where there's always room, and if you want, every week, give guest svcs a call and see if anything's opened up.

From my experience, I will suggest booking at your home resort for your stay when it is available with your 11 month window. Upon the start of your 7-month window, try to book at your other desired resort. If it is unavailable, you can be waitlisted. Should your waitlist come through, they will re-book your stay, and cancel your old booking.

This way, you know that your vacation will happen - and it is a bonus if you get your waitlist!

We decided to go to Disney last minute last year.

In August we tried to book for October. We were put on the wait list, but only for a week. We had agreed to take whatever resort came up first- and it was Saratoga. If you give them a list of resorts, the first one with a vacancy is assigned. At least that was our experience.

After Saratoga was assigned to us, we couldn't go on the waiting list again- apparently you can only do it once per trip.

We had made our reservations for our daughter, son-in-law and my DH and myself last December for two studios for Halloween. New Years Day my daughter announces the great news that they are having a baby in September so we had to cancel their reservations for October. We rebooked two studios in early February for the four of us to go in May and could only get Saratoga. We have been wait listed since then for BCV, BW or Wilderness and NOTHING has come through. I called 31 days out to remain on the wait list but I think we should give up hope at this point. REally wish our wait list would come through! I even told them they could put them at BW and us at BCV but nothing! We still have our reservations for BCV in October DH and myself. You never can tell if your reqest will happen.

first, congrats on a waitlist match so quickly :-)
secondly, the bit about one wait list per trip is not entirely true. yes, there isn't the ability to prioritize your waitlists (and therefore book the ssr match and keep looking for bwalk or bcv because you'd rather be there) but, you can rewaitlist. the waitlists that were created initially will be inactivated at the time of booking the match and they cannot be brought back but new ones can be made (so you'll go to the back of the line). if there's time before the trip, they can set up new waitlists (they might not be thrilled to do it, but they can) so long as you make it clear you're not trying to cheat the system and reactivate the old ones but rather you'd like to make new ones.

good luck with waitlists! :)
