Need help from Disneyana regulars

We're going to be at WDW during the Disneyana convention purely by coincidence. What I need to know is, where do the Disneyana events take place? Is there a schedule somewhere I can take a look at? What areas of WDW should we avoid during the events to stay away from crowds (we'll be there before the convention starts, so we can do that stuff early)?

I'm torn as to if I'm excited about this or not -- we've always missed the convention by a week or two on our annual August visits and normally we'd be psyched to see something we've never done before. But we're going with a couple who has never been to Disney (what is wrong with them!?!) and they want to see EVERYTHING, so big crowds will works against us.

Help! THANKS!

Thanks, but we're actually trying to avoid the convention, not attend it. It costs almost $600 for just convention attendance -- since that's almost my whole food budget for our 9-day trip, we just want to avoid it all together. So I'm hoping someone here knows the schedule of events or at least where they usually take place (I know it used to be the Contemporary, but I read something about Epcot this year, too!).

I guess what we (or at least I) want to know is whether it will be right in the middle of Epcot, or over to the side somewhere, so can be avoided? Is it during regular operating hours, or after hours? WILL EPCOT BE REALLY CROWDED BECAUSE OF THIS???? (sorry for the shouting, but that's the real issue)

All I can tell you is most of the events are during reg. park hours. I know a few events are at the S&D. Also, the park will be full but most DA people are at events and not in ride lines. But there will be a lot of people. I hope to go to a few events if I can. I forget the dates so I don't know if I can attend.:veryconfu

Hope this helps a bit.

ok.......but it has to be in a seperate part of the park...because if u need an admission to get in......then they def do not want tourists wandering around there booths.......

so my guess is it will be in a gated area ....away form the crowds.....

and honestly...... if they wanted to ride the rides and not trade there stuff....than they wouldn't be paying up tp 600$.....so my guess....we won't even notice there there.....i hope!!

Right, BUT I know there is a party for Disneyana attendees at one of the parks at some point. I don't want to be in that park on that day because they'll surely close off part of the park to set up for the party. There may be other park events that might close off just one area of the park. They close parts of the park to regular guests for many things -- weddings, conventions, taping for commmercials, etc. -- without closing the whole park. That's the kind of stuff I'm trying to avoid as best I can (I know it's not fool proof but the convention should be easy to figure out). We're gonna be so busy, I don't want to have to make a trip back to a park to do one area if I can avoid it.
