Need detailed tech info on Soarin

I have heard the general info that the cars in the Soran ride rise 40 feet off the ground. Do they all reach that height or are they staggered? And if so which ones are highest and more importantly which ones are lowest?

No, they do not all reach that height. For each group, there are 3 rows of seats. When they are lifted, they go on a slant, similar to the angle of an airplane during take-off. The first row is the highest, the 2nd is lower and slightly behind it, and the 3rd row is lower and behind the 2nd. If you're in the 2nd or 3rd row, you'll catch glimpses of the dangling feet of the row in front of you. If you're in the 1st row, there won't be any feet interfering with your view, but everytime the ride "rises" you'll catch the top of the screen, as if the film is cut off.

Hope this helps.

I know everybody's a fan of the front row, but I'm going to have to differ in my opinion. Like someone else had said, when you sit in the front row, you can see the cutoff of the film on the top. I personally think that's more distracting than the feet. I actually like the middle section, second row to be completely honest.

I will totally second that.

Really I think being in the middle section is more important that what row you are in.

I prefer the bottom row. That ride holds a lot of people and when they start passing gas the poor folks in the upper seats get blasted. It's far worse than the chili dog smell on SGE!

I would have to say that hands down section B-2 is the best place to sit if the CM will let you request it , puts you dead center in the middle of the screen. Both horizontal and vertical...

How high do the 2nd and 3rd rows go up? I know the top row goes 40 feet. That is a little too high for me.

Firstoff, I don't know how high the top row goes up. Given that, IF, it goes up 40 feet, the second would be about 4 feet lower, the third and final row would be 8 feet lower.

As for the heights/fear of heights issue. Note that this is a very sturdy structure. It isn't some kind of cable-car like thingy. Its lifted up, with hydraulics, and it looks massive. You will have a seatbelt and you should feel pretty secure.

I am not particularly a fan of the fact that the seats can swing though. I am PETRIFIED of heights and was freaking out the first time we went on Soarin (lucky for me we were on the bottom). The dangling feet actually made it easier to handle for me. The second time we were in the middle row and I would have been fine except for my knucklehead friend next to me swinging the seats.

In your opinion, what is the best place to view the Soarin' movie??? (Most realistic experience)

Can you please make that line of your signature a smaller font? It is incredibly distracting.

I prefer Rows A1 and C1 as well as B2. All the seats are pretty good though. Also...When I was on the ride last, it broke down, and we were up in the air for a few minutes. After the film stopped, it looked like the roof went up. It may have been us going down, but It didn't look like it. Does any part of the building move other than the ride itself?
