Reviving this thread rather than creating another. We are staying at OKW Jan 27 to Feb 6, 2016 (pre-trip report in my signature!) and we did online check-in yesterday. Deluxe studio, not DVC. We normally stay at POR, so we think we're used to a big, sprawling layout. We've also stayed at CSR and didn't mind the size/walk either. How do they compare to OKW?

Wondering about room requests. In terms of being near the hospitality building -vs- having a nice view of the canal or fairway, we'd prefer a nice view. That said, are there any rooms without nice views?

Right now, we've requested upper floor and Miller's Road area. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Just know that the buildings at OKW don't have elevators .....

I requested a fairway view and close to transportation. My view ended up being a view of the busy road (and noise) that ran alongside the golf course with the bus stop a few feet from my door. So I got to hear the bus beep, beep, beep every time it knelt, early in the morning, late at night.... And had to carry ALL my stuff up 3 flights of stairs since I requested a top floor, not realizing the buildings have no elevators.

Buildings 62, 63 and 64 have elevators.

This was our view from the top floor of building 45.

Lovely views of the river with boats passing a few times every hour plus a selection of wildlife in the trees!

Also, within easy walking distance of the main pool area and Turtle Shack.

Y'all aren't going to believe my new Disney problem. Were trying to keep this trip at the lowest cost possible so we have chosen two rooms at a value. Then I received a pin code for discount on rooms plus free parkhopper. After doing some math I thought lets stay at OKW in a 2 bedroom villa!! If we eat one of our meals in the room instead of two meals in the parks it will be about the same cost. I even figured 3 days at a value and 4 days at OKW. I tell the family and no one wants to do it!! They don't want to take the time to switch hotels and don't want to have to come back to the resort to get something to eat!! This is my chance for a deluxe and my family is saying no! I've been out voted!! I need a new family!!! :p

Wow! One of the reasons we enjoy the DVC villas is to have meals in the room. We often have breakfast and dinner in the room with lunch out. Saves a ton of money and we actually enjoy preparing our own meals.
OKW is a beautiful property with lovely grounds, very large rooms and great pools, plus a boat ride away from Disney Springs. Too bad you will miss out, but on the bright side, you will still be at WDW...always a plus.

Same here. OKW is our home resort, even though we could have had Boardwalk when we bought. I just love OKW, and we make a point of taking a 1BR when we stay there, just so we can have the full kitchen to cook breakfasts at the minimum

Love this view. If I end up winning and we stay here I may have to request this building!
Hey @Zipitidoda I hope you do get to stay in a deluxe sometime. Yes, the views from buildings 45 and 46 of the canal are lovely. There is one problem I will warn you about if you "end up winning," and it is a nice problem to have. OKW is such a wonderful resort you will be tempted to spend more time there than you probably usually would and then would miss out on park time.
Now for us that is not a problem, as we do just that, concentrate on resort time and just relaxing by the pool, enjoying the getaway from the hustle and bustle etc...but we are older and don't have kids and really savor resort time.
Truth is we could probably go just about anywhere within reason and budget restraints, yet we choose WDW and the WDW area a couple of times per year, whether we are going to the parks or not.
We are headed back in September and will be staying offsite at a three-bedroom house with it's own screened in pool and hot tub. No plans to hit a single park, but we will probably go over to Disney Springs and ride the boats and resort hop to WL and also over to the Boardwalk. We'll be taking our bikes and heading over to Fort Wilderness to ride around there and WL too.
Here is my wife saying "Put away the camera and let's ride," at the WL a couple of years ago.
