Need Advice - WDW with another family

My husband and I go to WDW usually once a year. Our children are now 7, 6, 5, and 4 mos (all girls). We are going in September with great friends (they have two daughters - 10 & 12), and this will be their family's first trip. I am starting to get really concerned. Have any of you ever vacationed at WDW with another family? They are great people and so much fun to be with, but I am concerned that our interests are very different (i.e. - our girls will want lots of character experiences, they don't). I don't like thrill rides, the other family does (as well as my husband, 7 yo, & 5 yo). Any advice on how to have a great time without spoiling anyone's trip or losing friends? Thanks!

There is nothing worse than waiting an hour to meet at the park in the morning because the rest of the group slept in, and you got the kids up when you were supposed to.
Boy do I agree with you there! and cell phones are your friend....

If you are at MK waiting, "ON THEIR WAY" still means an hour away -- to park, cross the lake, get in and get to you. Yes, we have waited WAY TO MANY TIMES the past few trips, and would have rather slept in.

I agree with some of the other posters.

When traveling to WDW with other families in the past. We planned breakfast twice and then went to the parks. We usually ended up splitting up during the day cause they don't like shows/parades and we do. Or should I say their Dad didn't like shows (we had to drag him screaming and kicking into Fantasmic). We would meet up later in the afternoon/early evening and finish out the park.

I was fun especially when groups are allowed to split up and do their own thing.

Hope you have a great trip!

I am not going with another family, but with three of my friends from work who have never been to WDW before. I am worried because they all seem to think I am a pro since I have been down several times, but there is so much I haven't done, I am still kind of new at this! Last time I went, we were hitting the parks at 10-11:00 because my friend thought the parks opened at 11!! First thing I told people as they said they wanted to go with me is the parks open early! I will be up and out - they can sleep in. Everytime we discuss it, I pray things go well. If they don't, I am on my own for the next trip!
