We are going to be there Dec. 29- Jan. 2...not the best time because of crowds I'm sure, but it's what we are doing. Could someone take the time to maybe write out a little itinerary of what to do when...we are staying at Port Orleans and have Park Hopper passes. Thanks so much in advance for the input you give me. Woohoo I can not wait...I will be 30 on Monday and am such a little kid when it comes to this. Hope each of you has a great Christmas and may you be blessed this upcoming New Year.

Find out what park is opening early each day. Be there when the park opens. Do the big rides/attractions while the crowds are lower. Then park hop somewhere else as the crowds build up.
The early morning hours are much more useful than the extra evening hours, which can get very crowded.

Same applies to parks when they don't have extra early morning hours: Be there when the park opens, hit the big stuff early, then move on.

Also- use Fast Pass effectively.

You are smart to have park hopper tickets for this time of the year.

Good luck.

Hello and welcome!

I'm sure there are some here that can give you a lot more general advise, but I'll just stick to some universal basics.

Since you are going at a crowded time you need to get to the parks at least 30 minutes before they open. Hit as many of the big rides that you can when you get there, and get fast passes for the other ones. Fast Passes do run out later in the day. So with that in mind, you need to decided what you want to see before you go. Have a list of "must do" stuff and whatever else you can squeeze is will just be gravey.

When it comes time to eat either eat early or late to avoid the mad crowds.

I would also recomend getting the Unofficial guide and reading it cover to cover before you head out. They have touring plans in the back and also on their website that will help you figure out a plan before you go.

Oh, and when you are in the MK get a Dole Whip! You'll be glad you did!

Have fun on your very first trip!!! Be sure to let us know how it went. :sohappy:

And don't try to do it all. Enjoy the things you have time to do and don't fret over what you might have missed. And call right now if there's a sit down place you want to be sure and hit; be prepared to eat early or late and you'll have better luck getting in. Enjoy!:xmas:

i'll be down there the 28-3... its usually not to bad but i've heard there have been some major crowds.. anyway... the number one thing that you have to do is figure out what you are doing for new years eve! if you are deciding to go to a park you have to get there ASAP! they DO close the parks right around 10-11 clock because they get to the full capacity...
my family and i usually go to epcot for new years eve... if you have lil ones, prob not the best place just because its hard to keep them entertained there. but the firework show is amazing... but be prepared cause new years eve is a all day event.. we usually get there at opening and then if we are aloud to leave then we usually go back.. but make sure you can get back in.
park hoppers are the best.. you can start anywhere you want and finish anywhere you want..ive only stayed at port orleans a couple times.. not my cup of tea, however there is always something to find to do.

The crowds may not be great - but the holidays are a magical time at WDW. My best advice - take your time, don't try to do too much and enjoy everything. Just appreciate all that you can and you wont go away disappointed! Have a great time!!!!

what is the best way to get a ride hopper or whatever they are called? The thingy that lets "jump" in line I guess.

From allears.net...

When you approach a FASTPASS Attraction you will see 2 clocks. The first one will tell you how long the STAND BY ENTRANCE wait time is, if you got in line right then. The other clock, FASTPASS DISTRIBUTION, tells you what time you should return if you got a FASTPASS ticket now.

Go to the FASTPASS ticket machine and insert your admission ticket. EACH PERSON NEEDS A FASTPASS TICKET! Out comes your FASTPASS indicating what time frame you may return to the attraction. You are given a time frame, or "window," and may return during that period. Note that for some attractions, like Honey I Shrunk the Audience (Epcot) and the Little Mermaid Show (Disney MGM-Studios), there is only a 10-15 minute window.
Once your FASTPASS time has arrived, return to the attraction and get in the line for FASTPASS holders (FASTPASS RETURN)! Be sure to have your ticket out and ready to show the Cast Member. Further along in the waiting area, a Cast Member will actually take your FASTPASS ticket.

Not all rides have the fastpass option, but most of the major ones will. (i.e. Splash Mountian).

Here is the key to seeing as much as you can in the short time you have....

1.) When you check into the resort get several park maps for each of the parks you want to visit. Study those over lunch or dinner and then decide which one to go to first. (We always go to the MK first, tradition.) IF you have a "length of stay pass" go as soon as you want to and as soon as you feel like you have the plan in mind. IF you have park hoppers and get there late, like after dinner time (for instance) I would wait and go the first FULL day I had becasue the days start counting down from the first use of the hopper pass, see what I mean?

2. ) Get to the park you want to go to the earliest you can. I would be there at "rope drop". By staying on property you will be allowed to get to the parks at least one hour before the guests not staying on property. (so if MK opens at 9 am to all guests, it will open at 8 am for you OR maybe alittle earlier as a special Holiday treat)

3.) Always look for the path of least resistance, so if the line for the fast pass machine is really long on the right side machine go to the shortest line, get only one fast pass at a time for the ride (one for each ticket or person in your group). A FP will give you window of riding time, like return between 130 and 230, and you walk right on to the ride (well almost). I like to go as soon as I can but if you are in line for another ride and cannot make you FP time, most of the time you can walk on the FP line at the very last second of your "window time" or even after. I have read here that most CM's will honor a FP any time after the return time, even hours after. Don't count on that happening tho!!

4.) Eat meals at "off" times especially if you don't have reservations for some of the places you want to eat at. BUT, don't forget to eat!! You will get cranky!

5.) Allow at least an hour to "hop" to another park, maybe even more than that.

6.) Don't be afraid to ask questions. Go to guest services at the parks (right on Main Street, in MK) and get your questions answered. Don't forget to get the buttons that say "first time visitor" and wear them all day, you never know what may happen!

7.) At MGM see Osbourne Lights. At MK see Mickey's Philharmagic. At AK, ride Everest. At Epcot, ride Soarin. Buy something that says 2008 on it.

8.) Most important of all....have fun. Take it easy, it will be crowded and there is NO WAY to see it all, that is why we all keep going back!!

Happy Birthday! :xmas::wave:

Good ideas, except... I'm 99.9% sure MYW packages replaced the "length of stay pass".

I would say to go and come as you please at the parks accept for NYE and NYD! Cause like everyone else says it will be CRAZY!!!!
Anywho back to my point make sure you go and buy a travel guide I personally have taken a liking to the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, it tells you traffic patterns and what to ride and when to ride it! I mean we live just 45 min away and whenever we hop over for a 3 day weekend its like our bible, even though we're Central Florida kids and grew up with WDW. I mean if you don't like what it has to say and you dont agree with it completly thats cool, but I think its helpful. Make sure you bring your own water into the parks, water is outrageous! But I think you should have a Florida "Christmas" which means itll be hotter than hades, you'll sweat through your undies in about 2 hrs and you'll be able to wear flip-flops! God I love it here! Neways don't go in there blind it's dangerous, well sorta. Know what to ride when to ride it, which land not to be in come 3 o'clock cause lord knows that is dangerous. But trust me on the guide thing, being a disney "virgin" and all...
So get set, get ready pack your shorts, your jeans, a sweat shirt and those thin t-shirts cause lemme tell ya the weather down here can be day and night on thursday it can be 90 and come friday it can be 30!

O, and P.S.-
Have lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of fun!
Even have some more fun for those of us to busy to go!

Since everyone else took my job by answering everything feel free to ask more so I can answer some lol. In general have fun and don't try to plan too much. Just have a general list of what you want to make sure to get to. As long as you use the extra magical hours & Fastpass system you should be able to get done everything you want. Two things about Disney's Animal Kingdom try to ride Kilimanjaro Safari in the afternoon to see the most animals & arive at least 30-45mins. ahead of time for Finding Nemo The Musical to make sure you are able to get a good seat.(& in some cases a seat at all) Anything else just ask & have a Magical Vacation. :D

^^^ Yes but what he was saying is the tickets and the options that go with them (park hopper,no experation ect.) are referded to under the name of MYW Tickets/Packages. But I believe what you were saying was that the number of days on your pass is only equal to the number of days you will be there for that vacation.(No extra days to save until your next trip) Correct?
