Hi guys,
we are travelling to Wdw (and to the US!) for the first time in about a month. I need to know some basic things such as where to find a supermarket or if there will be a kettle in our room. We ( husband and three little kids) are staying at a suite at art of animation and we have the disney dining plan.i have already made reservations for table restaurantes for every dinner and are plannin on quick service for Lunch. The question is...what do we do with breakfast? are we allowed to bring food into the Parks? Will there be snacks(also included in the plan) to be eaten for breakfast??
Thanks for Reading!

Food can be brought into the parks, and there are breakfast options for snack credits on the dining plan, but they're not very sustainable. There are no supermarkets on WDW property, so you'll have to either have a rental car, or take a cab. There will also be a food court at your hotel where you'll be able to find breakfast options that you can use instead of lunch or snack on the Dining Plan (but again, the snack credits aren't very sustainable, but they're better at the resort). I'd suggest you eat a quick breakfast in the room or at the food court, and then bring snacks for throughout the day (crackers, granola bars, etc.) Also, it WILL be hot, so if you do decide to stop at a supermarket, buy water bottles!

While there are no groceries on-property, there are several very close by. So, you could hire a car service (cab, Uber, etc...) to take you to one, or there are also some grocery delivery services that might work out for you. I'm not sure which would be easier for a foreign guest since I'm not sure how a credit card for online purchase would work for you shipping to a Disney resort (I know for US residents, that's no bid deal). But, if you Google "Disney Grocery Delivery", many options come up. Something to consider at least.

Also, if you don't need a ton of things, I'm pretty sure all the resorts on property have little markets in the gift shop for things like cereal, milk, juice, fruits, etc... If you only want breakfast items and don't mind the price being a bit higher, I'd suggest that. The time it'll take you to get off-property and back, plus the car service cost, it might be a wash in the end anyways. I've not been to the AoA before, so you might want to confirm the market's existence from someone that has.

PS: Mickey Premium Bars can always be had as a sustainable breakfast! ;)

IF you can I would buy what you can BEFORE you get to Florida! If you are going to buy misting fan for hot weather, then go to a local store and buy it MUCH CHEAPER than in the parks! Also, buy PONCHOs at a store for a few $ and save! Best rule of thumb is to figure on rain at least an hour a day! The POCHOs come in handy!
IF you have a rental car, go to Walmart and buy a lot of your souvenirs for friends! Walmart has all the major theme parks merchandise and at half or more off park prices...with the same labeling on them as in the parks!

SO BUY BEFORE YOU GO AND HIT UP WALMART!

There's a Super Walmart within 3 miles of WDW. We stop there to get a case of water and a few snacks... There is no microwave, but I used the water to make my decaf tea each night before bed using the coffee maker... (The water in Florida has an odd aftertaste). AofA has the best CS and grab n go on property. (The concierge from GF sent us there to use up extra snack credits, lol)
If you have a GPS the Walmart was easy to find. We stopped prior to to check in.
Welcome to America!

The snacks can really be turned into breakfast to be honest...I mean unless you're huge breakfast eaters. We aren't so we literally filled our mugs with coffee and grabbed a muffin with a snack credit and boom...breakfast lol. Also we used gardengrocer.com for groceries. Yes, they re a bit pricier for stuff but we ordered far enough in advance that we got a 10% discount and we felt it was worth the extra money just to not have to go to the grocery store while we were on vacation. Our stuff was waiting for us when we checked in. It was pretty awesome. That's just our preference though and I'm sure there are tons of people who feel the opposite. We were also at Art of Animation...we really liked it! This coming trip we will be in a cabin at FW and I can't wait :) Hope you have a great trip!

Seeing you'll have a car also look for a dollar store and get glow sticks for the kids. Children all seem to want them after dark and the ones sold in Disney are EXPENSIVE!!!!! I stock up before leaving home and always have more than I need for 2 weeks for less than what I'd pay for 2 nights in the bubble

BTW do u have the deluxe dining plan or QS? If only have QS, make sure you pay for your lunches oop and save your credits for dinner!
Also if paying oop for lunch, there are some very easily shared lunches in the parks and resorts! Some of the servings are Huge!
If u are on DDP, you can eat breakfast at the food court prior to getting on your bus!

You can definitely use snack credits for breakfast items...one snack credit can be used to purchase one whole piece of fruit...they mostly have apples and bananas...there are also yogurts and bagels...if you aren't big morning eaters I would either bring or have shipped small stuff like granola bars, oatmeal packets, dry cereal..bagels...the food court will have toasters and all sorts of condiments...things like that are quick, easy and don't take up a lot of room if you bring them along to help hold the kids over til lunch...

As far as the weather...we went in Feb of 2013 and Feb of 2014...nights can be just as cold as any other winter night...days will most likely be high 70's(farenheit) to low 80's :)

Chiming in with the "meals are big" thing, don't be afraid to ask for a take-out box for whatever you don't finish. Every restaurant I've done that at has accommodated me, and I take it back to the hotel and eat it later. Makes the meal credits spread even further.

We always bring our favorite box cereal packed in our checked luggage. They take up very little room in our bag. Also pack throw away paper bowls and plastic spoons. The night before I go to the food court and buy milk. It's a quick and cheap breakfast in the morning and don't have to waste time going to the food court in the morning.

Hi

There is a Wal-Mart not too far from AOA, on Vineland Road. It is very easy to get to. Just ask for directions from a cast member. They also have a big selection of Disney souvenirs. We always go there our first day and get milk, cereal, fruit, water and snacks for our 2 week stay at WDW. We find a bowl of cereal in the morning is enough for us to start the day. Enjoy your trip!!

Since you will have a car, you may want to consider stopping at a Publix for groceries. Walmart is a great option but can be very crowded and very slow at check-out at times.

There is a Publix grocery store about 15 minutes from WDW (google the directions). Right as you walk in, there is a section of Disney souvenirs. All rooms in AoA have a small kitchenette with a small refrigerator (about 3.2 cubic feet), microwave and coffee maker which you can use to make tea (just rinse it out to remove the coffee taste). Supplied with the coffee maker is a few filter packs of coffee and I think a tea bag or two. There are paper plates and cups and maybe some plastic utensils, also. You might want to pick up a supply of paper plates, bowls, cups and plastic utensils since the Disney supply in your room is very limited.

Personally, I'd go to the nearest Publix, rather than a Walmart. Oh, make sure to pick up a couple of gallon bottles of water. The water in WDW isn't the best for making coffee or tea. And a pack of individual bottles of water - you don't want to pay Disney prices for a bottle of Dasani water (which is filtered city tap water with minerals added back). Publix has their own line of bottle water, both in the gallon jug and individual bottles. We eat breakfast in our room - instant oatmeal, milk, juice, bananas, tea and such. This way the morning isn't such a rush to get up and go to a crowded dining area for breakfast. We also bring our own snacks into the parks - granola bars and similar things, along with a bottle of water that we refill at any counter service restaurant.

Have a great trip!

It should be in the upper 60s/low 70s during the day in February and 50s/60s at night. And not as humid. Best time to be in Central Florida.

BTW, you only get one snack credit per person per day on the dining plan you are on. So don't waste it on a piece of fruit. Like others have said, pick up supplies for breakfast in your room. Can you order from Amazon where you live in Europe and have it shipped to the U.S.? If so, those non-perishable items you would pick up at Publix (trust me, don't go to Walmart. I don't want your first visit to the U.S. to be a visit to Walmart) you can order from Amazon - think dry cereal/instant oatmeal, coffee/tea (and coffee filters), snacks, bottled water, sunscreen, diapers and such and have them shipped to your resort. People do it all the time. You can then pick up the perishable goods - milk, juices, fruit - at the grocery store. And save your snack credits for the important things - a Mickey Ice Cream bar!
