Nearly a fight on the Monorail

Last week, I was on a monorail and a fight nearly broke out in our car.
It was after Illuminations and everyone packed into the monorail. Some lady came with her kids and a stroller and tried to shove her way on.
I didn't see who she shoved first but someone fell over on to and older guy sitting down. They started yelling to the lady to get off the monorail and the guy was really upset. He told the monorail cast member nearby to hold the train because he wanted to press charges, but the guy's wife talked him down.
The monorail cast member made the lady and her kids get off and wait for the next monorail.
The next day, I happened to talk to the driver and he said he never saw anything like it.

I was shocked at something like this happening at Disney!

Unfortunately, I don't think occurances like this aren't really all that uncommon. They may not usually be to this degree (with the threats and stuff), but people frequently think that they are above the rules and have that "it's all about me" attitude. I once heard of 2 women (both with kids) who got into a fist fight in a dispute over who was next in line for the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. It doesn't really surprise me to hear of the monorail incident. At park closing, people go crazy and are desperate to be the first one out, be it bus, monorail, ferry, or parking lot shuttle. It's a sad world when people have to start fights at WDW (like the lady had to have known there was no room  ).

Well, I almost got into a fight in line at Rock N Rollercoaster. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens all over WDW.

I do not tolerate people who cut in line.

Now will I fight them down? No.. Maybe because 1 person isn't worth my WDW AP..

You shoulda seen the fight that broke out on the monorail here at DL. It started with a few nasty words, and actually ended in physical violence.

Usually the fights happen over the front cab. There have been many, many times when Orange County Sherrif's Dept has been called.

:(

Well yeah. Fights over the front cab are easy to understand....Who wouldn't want to be up close and personal with you? ;)

When I was young and at WDW with my family, some kid pushed my mother to get onto the monorail and she fell up to her waist between the train and the platform!

This summer we saw a fight break out, in which Disney police had to be called, while waiting for a bus to go back to our resort from MK after Wishes. The woman, along with her two small daughters, were taken away (given a ride) by the Disney cops. I think that was more to apease the people she cut in front of and then pushed. She was visibly intoxicated. It was, by far, the saddest thing I have ever seen at WDW--those poor girls.

I can't stand people who come to Disney and act like this! This is supposed to a place where you can just have fun and relax. Why can't people just be nice for once?

People that fight tend to have low self esteem. Mac users and Nascar fans top the list.

*Note to self...check police reports to see if any were DVC owners..*

Sounds like you're tolerating them then! LOL

I hate line cutters too. There's no excuse for it.

Actually, my husband cut in line once at Universal Studios, sort of. We were waiting in a 2 1/2 hour line to see the Shrek movie and an hour into it our 1 year old needed a diaper change. So hubby jumped out of line and changed her diaper and then waited outside the line for 30 minutes and got back in line with us when we came to a place where he could reach us. I'm sure everyone ASSUMED he was flat out cutting in line though. Oh well.

Ditto. I will, however, make a LOUD since remark about them, that everyone in line is sure to hear.

Yes, your husband did cut in line. Once you are in line, you must stay in line. If you leave (for whatever reason) you have lost your place in line and if you desire to return to the line, then you go to the end. You can't "save" a place in line.

We had an Ashlee Simpson concert here at SeaWorld over the summer, and I got assigned to line monitoring. People lined up at 9 am for a 7:30 pm show. My job was to walk up and down the line watching for cutters. Once you left the line, you were OUT, and you had to go to the end. The only exception was a quick bathroom trip. People had to come talk to us, and we gave them a bathroom pass with the time on it. They had 10 minutes to come back, or they lost their spot. Harsh, but the only fair way to do it. Now, that obviously won't work for a regular ride line, because budget-wise it's just not smart. But it just illustrates your point. :)

Ive seen a pickpocket get pounded by a few people waiting for the monorail after close one night, and a line cutter get the same treatment when after he cut in line for Kongfrontation at Universal. It was harsh, but I wasnt stepping in to stop them.

I NEVER have understood the need to haul ______ out of the park right at close. I like to watch Illuminations from around Norway then slowly wander around the lagoon the long way and just enjoy the near-empty park. Sometimes I won't be out until like an hour or more after park close. :p Later.

All of this fits into the mentality that any stroller moving through WDW must regularly attempt to 'jump to light speed' and bump, push and run over anything in it's path. I don't know how many times I've had to jump out of the way of these space travel events just because someone has no respect for anyone around them, and has decided they want to be somewhere other than where they are 'RIGHT NOW'.

I totally understand that pushing a stroller in those heavy crowds can be a frustrating experience, but don't take it out on me. Why is it necessary to do this right down the center of Main Street in the middle of Wishes?
