Found this blurb on Page Six of the New York Post. I know, I know. It's a tabloid. But wouldn't that be interesting.

February 5, 2004 -- IS Roy Disney finally about to get his wish - the end of Michael Eisner's reign? Spies in the know say certain people, acting on behalf of several members of the Disney board, have reached out to National Basketball Association Commissioner David Stern to see if Stern would agree to take over if and when Eisner gets ousted. Since taking up the NBA reins in 1984 when the league was near bankruptcy, Stern, considered a "marketing genius," grew the league from 23 teams to 29, introduced salary caps and launched the WNBA. But Tim Andree, a rep for Stern said, "It's simply not true."

More marketing people?

When will corporate executives realise that Quality beats hype every day of the week? Stern would be a mistake, we need a dreamer or a doer, not some bottom-line driven marketing exec. That and look at the quality of the product of the NBA, has it actually improved while Stern's been around? Not unless youre smoking what the Portland Trail Blazers are....

While granted, the american public will buy a piece of poo if theyre sold into believeing that the piece of poo is somethign that everyone else has and they need that piece of poo, they'll buy it. I am just tired of that mentality coming from what was once the most creative force in America.

Okay, youre from Herndon... you should be smarter than that. If MJ couldnt save the Wizards (letalone his job) what makes you think he can save the mouse?

David Stern, or anyone else from some entertainment related field isnt the answer.

In the same edition of the NY Post, John Crudele (page 38) interviewed Stanley Gold. Gold said, "There are five or six guys I believe can run this company. Steve Jobs would definitely be one of them." Gold wouldn't name the others, but said one of the choices was a woman.

Gold also said he has not approached Jobs, nor has Jobs asked him for the job.

I know MJ couldn't do anything to save Disney, I was merely making a joke. David Stern would be a horrible choice for CEO. I'm sorry if I offended you.

BTW, where in VA are you?

David Stern

He can't even drum up enough fans to fill the stands in all these arenas. Football fans spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to sit in below freezing temperatures for a few hours watching a game. Yet Stern can't even get people in warm arenas. The NBA is as dull as it gets. I'll go to a Div3 college basketball game or obviously a Div1 game anyday over the NBA. But by rule it should be more popular because its the best of the best.

Sure Stan....we believe ya....:animwink:

I'd like to think its a no for Stern and a strong yes for Jobs....especially with what has transpired with the whole PIXAR and EISNER relations...

Anyone know who the front runner for CEO is...either now, when he is booted, or in 2006 when his contract is up?

Nah, im not offended, not much offends me. I'm out in northern PWC off of 15. Like a few miles north of the proposed Disney's America site.

The names I keep hearing are Bill Clinton and Lee Iococca (sp?)

Clinton? Iacocca? Puh-leeeezzzzzzeeeee ..... (Dunno where that one came from, all i hear is steve jobs or bill gates, both of which are scary in their own right)

As great as their accomplishments have been, neither are what the Disney corp needs at the moment. They need someone who thinks outside the box and thinks long term.

Clinton and Disney would be the end of Disney.

Again, not saying it is true. Those are just the two names I have heard and if you look at their financial track record...

Clinton had the economy rolling and Lee put Chrysler back on the map (except for those awful 'K-cars')

He's talking about eBay CEO Meg Whitman. Also, Jobs is not being seriously considered for the Disney CEO. That's just an idle threat.
