National Treasure Sequel Getting Started

Source: LA Daily News
August 3, 2006

Director Jon Turteltaub tells the LA Daily News that the sequel to Disney's 2004 Nicolas Cage hit, National Treasure, will start filming the first of the year.

"We are just about to start preproduction," says Turteltaub. "We'll have Nic, Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel... Everyone's back except anyone who's in jail or died."

He adds that the sequel will take our intrepid adventurers to "exciting destinations within America as well as around the world. As we were shooting the first one, it kept changing, so I'm scared to commit to anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mount Rushmore made an appearance."

Like the first film, Turteltaub co-produces with Jerry Bruckheimer.

^^such depressing news, though...everyone is back but those in jail?!!? That eliminates *sob* Sean Bean

Still, its definitely something to keep on the watch for

I liked the first one a good bit, I'm not much of a Nicholas(sp?) Cage fan...heck, I can't even spell his name...haha, but the film was pretty good. Was curious as to whether they'd make a sequel to it.

My only concern is that the director is afraid to comment becuase things might change...it's not really good for a film when things change in mid-production, makes it harder to recoup for the lost money. Though, I do believe the first one did pretty well in the theatre...I didn't get to see until it came out on video.

Me too, someone recommended that I watched Sahara coz it was similar. - Not at all, it's not even about the whole treasure hunt thing, I didn't like it.
Bring back the 'Treasure'!!

I agree with that statement 100%, hehe...

And Sahara was a good movie in my opinion...but it had NOTHING to do with National Treasure O_o I fail to see the comparison, lol.

Sounds cool. Maybe they could include a cool hunt at Mount Rushmore or in the National Parks. I'd love to see more USA places used.

I think it would be cool for it to be more of...idk, International Treasure. Go to Europe...Asia...somewhere exciting.
