National Treasure Ride

I was watching Entertainment Tonight and they were showing new scenes from the Making of the New National Treasure movie. This scene involves water and lots of it. How about if the movie made good money, they can have the Catastrophe Canyon and make it to look like the scene from the movie, and create maybe around it a new attraction, maybe something in the lines of Indiana Jones / Dinosaur.

As a funny fact. the set is Built in the Universal Studios, Hollywood water tank (The Truman Show).

Soon as I saw this, I flipped on ABC. Apparently we're delayed by a few minutes (Global ALWAYS is), but I managed to turn it on RIGHT when the clip came on.

...You're right. That's a LOT of water.

I don't know about the new attraction. It could certainly carry a good storyline if WDI was allowed to venture into such imaginative territory (see: budget).

yeah .. seen that set on my Universal Studios trip two wees ago ... so I guess the ride .. if build ..would be placed on Universal Studios soil .. not Disney's (copyright thingy) .. on another thought .. some scenes of the pirates movies were also shot in US :D

Anyone want to elaborate on "A Lot of Water"...what was going on? A flood scene, out at sea, etc...And also did anyone who saw this special get a feel for how the sequel would be compared to the first one. I think that the first one was an incredible movie, and from what I read I can't see the second one standing up to its predecessor.

I really liked "National Treasure", and due to the extensive amount of historical scope it encompassed, could lend itself to a multitude of themes; hence, it would/could be an excellent direction for a future ride/attraction. The second movie, will deal with the history in and about the assasination of Abraham Lincoln and I eagerly anticipate it's opening. (I believe it's scheduled to open in December)

It wasn't a special. It was a 3-minute behind-the-scenes look that didn't reveal much of the plot than what we already know.

It was basically a very big flood scene, in an enclosed room (as far as the actual film would show).

I can't actually imagine that a National Treasure ride would do well.

The movie was not well-received by most, and I don't think the plot was so compelling that it would make an interesting addition to the parks.

Now if you told me it was a DIE HARD ride....:king:

Perhaps heresy, but I think National Treasure was every bit as good as Indy, and look what Disney has done with that.

National Treasure is no classic flick, nor will the sequel become one, but it has the chance to become a pretty decent franchise for WD Pictures.

The movie actually did very well. It made nearly 350 million dollars in the box office worldwide on only a 100 million dollar budget. That is very rare that a movie makes that kind of money on a budget of that size. Although I do agree with you that a national treasure ride would not make a very interesting addition to the parks. The little kids would presumably have a hard time grasping this movie and a ride based off of the movie seems way to hard to muster up. The only thing I could see is a live action show that was lossely based on the plots of the movies. I guess it would either have to takes its home in Liberty Square, The American Adventure in WS, or take over the LMA show at MGM.

My whole family liked the film. Why couldn't they do something along the lines of the Indiana Jones ride at DL? With the EMV vehicles? I know that having a ride too similar to Dinosaur has been debated here before, but the film included lots of action and special effects, and ended with a treasure in a tomb. Sounds kind of like Indy to me. And it would be a Disney property.

This is true that it does resemble Indy in a sense. However, I feel that one of the good things about Indiana Jones is that he has a catchy name, a trademark hat and whip, and trademark sayings ("snakes, whyd it have to be snakes", never leaving his hat...etc.) all of this being said, I think that he is easier to identify with as an action hero and an adventurer. Nicholas Cage just kinda ran around in his urban outfitters curduroy pants. I just dont think there are strong enough characters in the show to identify with on an attraction. These are just my 2 cents though.
