Nat Geo team discovers "real" Yet; could an EE update be not so far behind?

I am now convinced there is a conspiracy against me here. How is this chit-chat when I've provided multiple links showing that this is real news?

Hello Peter. May I call you Peter? I think that you are taking things a little too seriously regarding any thoughts of persecution here. I believe that the moderators were simply using common sense in moving this thread. Please allow me to expound on this a bit through examples.

Paleontologists are constantly making new discoveries regarding dinosaurs. Using that information for the sake of starting threads in the "News" section of this forum because of the Dinosaur attraction at WDW would not provide news that related directly to WDW. Additionally, NASA is launching a new probe to Mars. While this relates to Mission:Space indirectly, it doesn't really qualify as a story that can be placed within the "News" section of this forum in relation to WDW. Your story on the Yeti is nifty, but it isn't something that can be termed as news that directly relates to WDW.

"Real Yeti eats tourist at entrance to attraction", or "Joe Rohde finds a Yeti in back yard, says the fur should have been green after all", these are headlines that can be directly related as WDW news. Your premise that researcher's findings should be used in the queue is an opinion, not news. No attack here, just adding to the conversation in a hopefully positive way.

Just to let you know, I have a background in journalism. If I was writing a news story for the site concerning the subject, I would have called Disney to get quotes on the subject from them to make it all relevant.

While that may be true, the fact remains that you took a different approach, thereby nullifying the premise of relevant news. I wish you well Peter, but the actions taken by the moderators with this thread are, in my humble estimation, correct.

Of course it's correct. It's their website, so anything they decide to do is correct. That was just my initial reaction. Of course, I don't think there's an actual conspiracy against me.

In journalism, we call what I had posted here a "lead". And in journalism all leads are valuable. It's then up to the publisher to follow-up on that lead to pursue it and see if a news worthy story derives out of it. If I were a paid reporter assigned to that lead or the publisher given the lead, I would take the time to pursue it and get those quotes I mentioned previously.

The point is that I thought of this website when I saw that documentary on Nat Geo and thought to post it, at my generosity, as a lead that could be followed-up and pursued as a possible story. Naturally, I took the placement of this thread into chit-chat as a rude snub to that generosity.

It's a shame too because lots of WDW Magic users have expressed interest in seeing a story like that! No biggie. We all live and learn. Next time I get a Disney lead, I won't automatically be giving it here.

Expedition Everest is far more about a manifestation of our relationship with the forces of nature than an examination of an actual creature.

How about 'newly discovered yeti' eats Joe Rohde...

From my observations, Chit Chat is by far the friendliest corner of the forums. If you have any doubt of a topic, post it down here next time. Here we don't (for the most part) fight, ridicule other people's opinions, and try to show off who has vastly far superior Mouse knowledge. Sure you may not receive a response every 3-minutes like up in the buzzing News/Rumors section. But at least down here you won't be going head-to-head with those who are trying to constantly prove they are more Disney than thou. Down here we let our hair down; knowing when to laugh, yet also knowing when to be serious. We engage in subtle conversation while avoiding the practice of one-upmanship. Give it a try more often. I guarantee you this Yeti topic (which I think is very good, and yes, Disney/Everest-related), would have been met with far less hostility had you started it down here in our humble hideaway.

The friendly and kind tone of your post is appreciated. I also think that rsoxguy handled his differing point of view, with Mr. Alt's post placement, in a considerate manner.

These forums are so enjoyable when we are receptive to reading ideas and suggestions shared by one another, and communicate with everyone in a respectful and welcoming manner.

While I agree with that, part of me thinks 'We Wish'. I wish that any Mars travel technology breakthroughs would find its way into an EPCOT spcae pavilion. I wish that new skeleton discoveries in China made their way into a dinoland in DAK.
