Nassau as a Port

If anyone's ever stopped at Nassau as a port, we need some advice. Can anyone recommend a scooter company to rent from that's not trying to scam me? And we can't decide on Cable Beach, Paradise Island, or Cabbage Beach, maybe some of you have a preference or like to use a specific resort?

Can't help you because I've never rented a scooter or been to any of those beaches. You might search the ports area of Cruise Critic to find specific info like that. There's a looooot of knowledge there! Also, dig around Trip Advisor. Those are my go-to sites for port info.
Yeah, I'm reading on there, but everyone is split. Just hoping maybe someone has a preference and willing to opine ultimately helping me decide. I can't find anything on scooters though, probably won't either. You'd be surprised how much fun they are. I was pretty lucky a place in Cozumel where I rented a scooter went smoothly because I've read horror stories on cruise critic, but what an experience as opposed to the typical port adventures on the disney site (I highly recommend trying it!).

Walk around the tourist area and head back to the boat for the day. Enjoy a boat with low crowd.
I can't sleep past 5:30 am so I usually have the boat alone to myself for a solid 3.5 hours before mayhem ensues. I get all the good, freshly cut fruit and whatever fresh preparations they have available at cabanas; best part is you can have a nice, quiet, solitude breakfast watching the sun come up over what seems like endless water. It's also a time for a good swim in the pool once you can as you'll be one of two people in it and there will be no splashing kids. Then 9 am comes around and everyone including my wife has to come up on deck ruining everything.

Ultimately, when I'm at port I LOVE to see new places. I can always have a quiet ship if I try hard enough, I probably won't ever get to Nassau again (I'm only doing a 4-nighter due to work constraints, i'd be on a 7-night Caribbean if it was my choice)...

Yea I enjoy the serenity that early at the buffet. Except I get up solo, go up there, eat a full breakfast, go back to the cabin to sleep a few more hours, get up, and eat another full breakfast.

That is just how we do Nassau though. Not much there holds our interest.

Oh, once they put out the bacon and eggs I definitely get second breakfast. And the more I read about Nassau, the more I think I'm not renting a scooter. Visiting downtown, cable beach, and then hitting the AquaDuck.

My honest "opine" :) is to stay on the ship. Nassau is not my favorite port at all. Unless you already have something specific in mind that you want to do (Atlantis, particular shopping site, dolphins or sting rays, etc.), enjoy a fairly quiet day on the ship. That's my honest preference.

We have been to Nassau 3 times and we only got off the boat our first time to do the tour at Atlantis and other than that we have stayed on the ship and camp out by the pool and enjoy the smaller crowds

Nassau is alright for plopping down on a beach for a few hours - otherwise, we didn't really immerse ourselves in the shopping/dining atmosphere there. We got off in the morning and visited Atlantis, which looked pretty awesome, but everything there is obviously private or extra. We actually went back to the Dream for lunch which was probably a good call since we were clueless on what to try. Then we came back out and went to Cable Beach I believe. We took a relatively cheap boat ride there and back. It's a public beach, so there's lots of people and locals trying to sell you things, but we just moved farther down the beach and were left alone!

In all, Nassau isn't the most glamorous port with tons of MUST SEES/DOS, but if you've never been before, I'd definitely at least give it a try.
