I was talking to a friend of mine today (yes that is you Elbio) about a time Nancy Kerrigan was in the Magic Kingdom waiting for a parade with Mickey and a open mike caught her saying something to Mickey about seeing or dealing with stupid people every day. Does anybody have a video or audio of this? This was supposed to of happened just after one of her Olympics. My friend also said that it made the news and afte she said it Mickey turned away :o . And help would be great.

Many thanks,

Jay

I remember that mini-scandal. Nancy Kerrigan was caught on tape being less than gracious to her Disney hosts and not being appreciative with being the guest of honor for the Disney World parade. She came off sounding and looking like a spoiled, snotty brat, which I assume she really was.

Funny thing is..... whatever happened to Miss Kerrigan? Her 15 minutes of fame ended a few days after the Olympics and she made a fool of herself at Disney World. Where is she now? Teaching ice skating in some mall somewhere?

She broke up the marriage of her skating coach, then married him. (Sorry, as a first wife I have a little bit of contempt for that behavior)

She has at least one kid and I think shows up occassionally on those NutraSweet retired skater shows.

I never liked her. She is "famous," because she is "famous." As the article said, if Tonya Harding didn't plan to have someone smack her knee, would she have gotten to a high point at all?

To me, she portrayed the image of "Someone hurt me, so I deserve the gold medal." Cue to video of her lying on the floor crying. [How many times did we have to see that?]

She also dissed WDW!

more like "infamous"

Without the cracked knee, she would have lost and we would have never seen her again. In fact, her skills were not that great. Oksana was MUCH better.

This is ridiculous. Ms. Kerrigan is certainly not the most likable person but she's not famous because she's famous. She was a United States women's figure skating champion (she would have won again in 1993 but Harding took care of that) and two-time Olympic medalist. We should all accomplish so much. I'm also pretty sure she did not have effective control of the newsrooms or the video tape that was taken moments after she was assaulted.

And remember, she also dissed Oksana after she won on live Olpympic coverage. I have that on tape. She complained that Oksana is making her wait to long (Oksana was applying makeup) and Kerrigan rudely rolled her eyes and called her a baby and that all she is going to do is cry it off. Then she realized the camera was there, lol.

I'm sorry, but I just can't leave this alone.

From the official Nancy Kerrigan website

Nancy just finished recording a song for a Tina Turner Tribute Album.

Why is it? You may have been following her career before she was selected to be on the US figure skating team, I wasn't. I knew nothing about her until "the incident." I don't follow women's figure skating. In fact, I don't watch figure skating in the Olympics at all. Obviously, if she had won the gold, video of her performance would have been all over the tv news and the network covering the olympics (NBC?). But all that I remember seeing all before and during the Olympics that year was her sitting on the floor crying (and some footage of her practicing. Obviously, it was dead wrong for Tonya Harding to have done what did.

I'm not saying that I dislike her because she was the US women's figure skating champion and two-time Olympic medalist. What I am saying is that the impression I got, was that she wasn't happy winning the silver. Which, IS a big accomplishment. And exactly as you say, "we should all accomplish so much." MOST of the athletes who make it to the Olympics say it was one, if not THE, greatest thing that happened to them. They are just grateful to be there. Kerrigan came across to me that she deserved the gold medal, and was ed off that she didn't win it.

She may not have had control of the cameras, but she certainly knew that sobbing in front of the cameras would be good for her "America's sweetheart" image.
