MYW Dining question...

Does anyone know exactly how much money you are allowed for each meal when you purchase the Magic Your Way with Dining option? I still don't understand how it works. Am I allowed to get whatever I want to eat or do I have to choose from a narrow assortment chosen by WDW? Thanks folks for the help.

MYW Dining

The MYW dining plan is super flexible, and allows each person to have EXACTLY what they want! The only stipulation is that you have one sit down (served) meal, one counter service meal (like in the food courts) and one snack (which are great, and we often used them for the following mornings breakfast!) per day. Some resteraunts will specify that they count as 2 sit down meals instead of one. That means that if you desire it, one extra sit down meal will need to be paid for during your stay. Look at this as a bank account that has each of these meals for each day of your trip in the account. If you are going for 7 days, then you would have 7 of each of those meals in each of your family members accounts. If you choose to use 2 of the sit down meals on the first day, then you would have 5 left. Believe me when Is ay that even with using those 2 sit down meals on our first day, we still had meals left over when we left, because you simply can't eat everything they give you! On the day we had our expensive dinner, we did not have lunch. That left open a counter service meal to use as a dinner a different day. Trythfully, it is more than enough food. You can use the snack tickets for large fruit bowls that serve as a great morning breakfast too!
There is no cost stipulation attached. On our first night, our dinner at Coral Reef (2 sit down meals counted) came to over $300!! The dining plan is worth every penny, is REALLY easy to use, and gives you not only your choice, but MORE than enpugh food!

I believe it's anything on the menu, unless they've identified that some things will require payment of a surcharge [Wolfgang Puck's as an example]. I've seen comments that some CMs allowed things while others didn't, but I think that was for the snack part.

Having not actually done it yet myself, perhaps someone with specific experience will be correcting me any minute now...

Beta Return
We just booked our package for June, and got the MYW Dining option. It is too good to be true. I'm sure we'll be able to do a 2-Dinner meal at least once, for the reasons stated above - we simply can't eat a full dinner every day (especially in the June heat!).

For a mere $30-something a day, you get way more than you can eat. Heck, a dinner includes a drink, appetizer, entree, dessert AND the tip! Lunch includes a basket/combo, dessert and drink. If you eat at Ohana's, you're going to spend as much in one meal as you are for one day's worth of food on the Dining Plan.

It's a genius marketing scheme by WDW - you have your length-of-stay passes, free transportation and on-property resorts....and NOW you have a little piece of plastic, pre-paid, that lets you eat your heart out without having to EVER leave property!

The dining plan is great, but I do wish that they would add a little bit more flexibility. It would be nice to upgrade to a Premium Dining Package that would allow all table service restaurants. Its too much food, I admit that, but its great for the atmosphere. Maybe they could have some sort of upgrade where you don't get the appetizer and desserts at lunch time but still could eat in one of the nicer places?

It would also be cool if you could add extra table service dinners onto your plan. As other posters here have already mentioned, there are a few places that require 2 table service to eat there. If you could purchase extras in advance, it was make things a lot more convenient.
