Mystery Project at Epcot

Having taken and taught Accounting 101, I can assure you that wasn't an Accounting 101 post. That was just general Business 101.

Giggle! Love it! It has been 25 years since graduating, the courses blend even more than they did back then, message still the same. Kudos.

Just because Disney can track their investment doesn't translate to guests wanting Disney Springs more than updates to the parks. That logic could float with short sighted investors and boards, not likely to sway the guests desires for investments in the parks.

No disagreement there. Business cases are often easier to make for certain investments, like stores and retail that have dedicated revenue streams, than they are for investments that have no such readily identifiable separate revenue streams. But that ought not mean that it is only the projects with readily identifiable revenue streams that get approved.

I tend to overreact to the constant blame that people here place on "accountants" for every decision Disney makes that they don't like. As a proud accountant, I don't like when accountants are blamed for giving financial information to senior management that those managers use to make (arguably) bad decisions, and I also don't like when accountants are blamed for things that aren't part of their job at all!:) You weren't necessarily doing either of those things, but I figured I'd drop in a little defense of my profession anyways.

I get it and I didn't. :D It was just my reply to a condescending post. Never a big fan of people telling me how I shouldn't feel and then over simplifying the world of business investments. So the comment wasn't directed at accountants, more being annoyed with being talked down to on a topic where I hold a degree in. So all is good! :)

So here I am reading this thread and some of the posts have been triggering a whole lot of possibilities. But I guess I'll leave in a few thoughts for now...

Interesting find there... I wonder what could possible happen in 2015... I would love to see Wonders Of Life be renovated and reopened.... lets face it everything in future world needs a face lift.

WOL could be a perfect opportunity to transform it into what it was meant to be a place dedicated to teaching people about healthy choices but as the economy is right now its pretty hard to find a company that is willing to fork money over to upgrade a pavillion or sponsor one.

True, maybe perhaps they could "go commando" (no allusions there, guys), that is, run the pavilion without sponsorship, but I doubt it'll make it out alive as the pavilion that didn't need to be dominated by a popular franchise entity.

Yeah, I'll take a cue from '74 and call it TPFKAWOL

The pavilion formerly known as Wonders of Life.......or just AWOL= After Wonders of Life

Medical innovations, MIA. I kind of suspected that health and life is an important aspect in the future, and leaving it out would be doing a grave disservice.

The only time I rode in Cali there was a big, black, chunk o' crap that moved around the screen. Of course, I didn't wait or use a fp.....

I will only leave words of humor to that situation.

"AAH WHAT IS THAT THING? Oh it's a dust ball that's clinging to the... WAAAAAGHH!"

My opinion, 3d movies are not a novelty anymore and have no place in a theme park, if I can experience it at my local movie theater then it isn't that special inside a theme park. Therefore demolish the captian EO theater and either create another smaller ride in that space. Or a behemoth attraction that uses the entire floor. Also if there is a mystery project happening and opening by 2015 my guess is Imagination. lines up with the closing scheduled in 2014, and since the building doesn't need to be demolished (Fingers cross and just knocked on wood) the project should be about redoing the interior.
Also someone said it must drive tdo nuts to have wonders of life be empty, which I find couldn't be less true. They love that space, only have to operate it twice a year and people come in for all the merch and special festivals. They ain't gonna change it anytime soon.

I thought I had heard the mystery project for Epcot was going to be a new movie for Magic Eye Theater and the closing of the Imagination ride, or a new film and story for UOE that would get rid of 90s Ellen. How strong of a rumor is there that the Imagination ride will be redone and not just closed?

Please save futureworld. Anything has got to be better then forgotten part of EPCOT. I just cant believe they can not get any sponsors for these attractions. I mean are there no more forward looking companies out there that would like to showcase there companies product.

It is not that there aren't any forward thinking companies...it is that they are NOT thinking of the USA... at ALL. The ready money is now in Asia my friends. We are sheep that have already been fleeced, so we are of no use to them anymore. You know it is true...the Corporations would like nothing more than to 'Thin the herd' of retired babyboomer-'useless eaters' that keep drawing off the stored reserves. Think about it -How many of your friends and relatives have lost $$ in the stock market, or have had their 401K or retirement funds reduced or halted??? Ergo - why should Corporations sponsor attractions to draw the attention of AMERICANS when they can do the same for Disney in it's Asian parks !!

It's for the new Casino TWDC will build after they close EPCOT, They still need to buy a new slate of legislators, Gov Voldemort is probably on board but they need a new state legislature who will approve gambling.

Does anyone have any new information about the mystery project for Epcot? If they are still planning on opening something in 2015 I would think they would be starting construction soon? Has this been put on hold or no long happening? Any info on this would be great!
