I love POR - it's a GREAT resort, a moderate price, and you won't have to switch hotels halfway through your honeymoon because you overspent for a deluxe resort the first few days! ;) You also won't be overrun by as many hordes of small children as you would at the value resorts.

Definitely book an evening horse-drawn carriage ride around the resort - very romantic!

Have a wonderful honeymoon.

To The Honeymooners

Hi, Congratulations to you and your finance' I myself am just newly engaged and will be having our honeymoon in WDW too.
I have some advice, I have been staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for what will be my thrid stay this May. and me and my fiance' are going back this upcoming December for a longer stay. I can tell you this Animal Kingdom Lodge is the best ever. Ask for a Savannah View Room ok its very important so you can watch the beautiful animals from your private balcony. Its very calming and romantic at the same time. I always get the Savannah view when I go. You and your finance' will love it. Trust Me!!! Also tell them when you make your reservations that this is your honey moon and they will leave you suprises. I told them it was my birthday and engagement last time and they left me a nice cake and also a gift on my bed it was so sweet. The people at animal kingdom are very sweet too.
Ok one other thing you just have to do, Cindrella Castle Meal!!! Either the Breakfast or Dinner is great, I did the Dinner last time around 4pm and it was great the Fairy GodMother came out and a few other characters too, also you get to take your picture with Cindrella and they will give the pictures to you during your meal its included you and your finance' will love it!!!!
If you like you can email me and I will even send you some pictures of the back of Animal Kingdom in the room so you can see whats its like and also some inside view of Cindrella Castle too.
There is so much to do at WDW....You can also do the Key to Magic Kingdom, this tour takes you behind the scens at MK and you and a group of others get to hear little secrets about Magic Kingdom. Oh almost forgot if you stay on the conceirge level at Animal Kingdom to you do the Kiliamangoro Safari, which is when you go to the Safari just a group of I believe 40 people from the Animal Kingdom Lodge you go very early in the morning and you get pretty up close and personal with the animals as they are getting up for the day and they stop and you can take such great pictures too and after the sunrise safari you have breakfast with the group. (depending on how intimate you want to be, just know that you will be sitting with someone you do not know)....anyway email me if you like I'd love to help you and your finance' any way I can. My wife and I went on our honeymoon to WDW in July 06 and absolutely loved it! We actually split our time between WDW and Disney cruise. We splurged a little and stayed at the Polynesian for a few days, went on a 3 night cruise, and then went back to WDW and stayed at Coronado Springs for an extra two nights. It was a nice mix, and we felt like we spent more than we normally would have because of it being a once in a lifetime event and we wanted it to be special. I have a few suggestions:

1) Make a late reservation at the Rose & Crown in Great Britain in Epcot (like after 7:00) and watch Illuminations from there. The outside patio will give you a great view. If they know it's your honeymoon, they will probably try to give you an outside table. We did this for the 4th of July Illuminations and it is a great memory of our honeymoon.
2) Eat at California Grill at the top of the Contemporary. It is great food, and a little bit upscale. Dress up a little bit and enjoy the view. I had one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life there. This is another chance for you to splurge a little bit and do something you might not do on a normal trip.
3) Go back to your resort during the afternoon and just relax at the pool. You are going to still be exhausted from the whirlwind of your wedding, and this is a great way to realx and enjoy each other. You'll also avoid the busy afternoons at the parks.
4) Buy something special for your house that will always remind you of your special trip. The Art of Disney has great artwork (framed or just prints).

Those are just some things that I know made our honeymoon special. We didn't go overboard with spending, but we also did some extra things to make the trip memorable. Remember this (hopefully) will be a once in a lifetime event. Make it special and enjoy yourselves. Congrats!:animwink:

Photo Appointments

Congrats! I'm also planning my Disney honeymoon ~ it's fun isn't it?:)

I called to get an appointment for getting our pictures early in the morning in our bridal attire and was told that only Disney Brides are allowed to do that. I was very bummed out as it was my dream too.

You can, however, hire a Disney photographer to take you around the park and do about an hour long photo session. We ended up doing this for our engagement photos and it was a blast! They will take you to a few private/secret places that the general public can't access. You will get your photo's in front of the castle w/your groom kneeling, it's very romantic.

Call again and double check, because I hope that maybe I'm wrong, or maybe the person I talked to wasn't right! I do believe though, that to wear your wedding gown & go into the park before opening you do have to be a Disney bride.

Congrats!! You'll have a blast! My husband and I had our honeymoon in Aug. at DisneyWorld and we stayed at the Port Orleans and we thought it was great! (We had stayed there before). We were there for 8 nights which was the perfect amount of time! Definitley eat at Jickos!! The food was awesome and the ambiance was great! Like someone mentioned in a previous reply, just walking around the World Showcase, relaxing, having some drinks, and going into the different shops was also a lot of fun!!! Make sure to see illuminations at Epcot and Wishes at the Magic Kingdom!! Really lovely and romantic!!! Have fun!!:sohappy::wave:

I would suggest POFQ for a quiet, romantic setting as a resort. You can do lots of things to make your trip special:

  • a Carriage Ride at POR
  • wear Bride & Groom ears
  • eat at Victoria & Albert's
  • eat at Cinderella's Royal Table
  • contact Gifts of a Lifetime [their Honeymoon page]
  • have decorations and a welcome basket delivered to your room
  • spend an evening on the beach at Poly watching Wishes from a hammock
You could easily keep the whole 10 days romantic and special in WDW.

Congratulations! :sohappy:
I also agree with all of your suggestions!!! Well put!!:sohappy:
