I don't have time to read everything, but it looks wonderful. You were blessed with creativity! So you did this all just for fun? I'm amazed!

A BIG announcement: Carousel of Progress just added to my Magic Kingdom theme park!!!

A BIG announcement: Carousel of Progress just added to my Magic Kingdom theme park!!!
I would like to announce that I have just decided to add to my Magic Kingdom theme park, the timeless Disney classic...

CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS!!!!! :D :D :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Discoveryland4X.jpg

Carousel of Progress will be placed in the circular building where I originally planned to house Innoventions (#10 on my Discoveryland map), which is moving out of my MK park. Coincidentally, this building is the EXACT same shape and size as WDW's Carousel of Progress building, so maybe CoP was meant to got here all along! :animwink:

However, this is a bittersweet announcement, as word is going around that Carousel of Progress will very like close permanently at WDW and get completely scrapped. In fact, there's currently a thread on the News and Rumors forum about this. Even Jim Hill Media.com has hinted this, saying that its very likely that "Toy Story's little green men will mostly likely be moving into Tomorrowland's theater-go-round building -- offering WDW visitors flying saucer driving lessons -- sometime in late 2007 / early 2008". This was evidenced by the Halloween decorations placed by Carousel of Progress last Halloween of the green aliens from Toy Story. Even Jacob M. Addison (founder of www.carouselofprogress.com) believes that the closure of CoP "is inevitable at this point!

To make matters worse, Carousel of Progress is currently open seasonally and during limited hours, and much of the attraction has fallen into disrepair. This gives further evidence of CoP's eventual closure. IMHO, permanently closing and scrapping Carousel of Progress would be a great disrespect to Walt Disney and his legacy, especially since CoP was an attraction he personally created and conceived of himself, and even pitched in the theme song by singing it with the song's writers, the Sherman Brothers! It would be a sad day to have the strains of There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow silenced forever, at the very least!  :brick:

Any thoughts? (I know there should be!)

A few thoughts on my Mad Tea Party ride

I have come up with a few more thoughts on my Mad Tea Party ride in my Magic Kingdom theme park. First of all I was planning to have a stylized glass roof over the ride, to keep rain out but allow more sunlight in; to give it a "sunnier" and lighter look than WDW's ride! (WDW's Mad Tea Party ride has a WDW's has a dark, bumped car-like roof) In addition, I have been thinking about the ride's centerpiece. As many of us already know, Disneyland's has no roof nor centerpiece, and WDW's has a giant teapot as their centerpiece, with the Doormouse from Alice in Wonderland peeking out the top.

For my Mad Tea Party ride's centerpiece, I was considering a circular raised platform (to keep the centerpiece high enough for riders and guests in line to see easily without having to look down); on top of the platform will be figurines of Alice, Mad Hatter, and Marsh Hare at the Tea Party, along with dining furniture and props. On one of the edges of the platform/floor is the White Rabbit, apparently rushing in to the Tea Party, obviously late! :D

On the sides of the circular platform (above the ride's turntable and below the Tea Party scene on top), I thought about having painted drawings of some of the other characters from Alice In Wonderland; such as the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the smoking catepillar (no clue what is name is!), and the Queen of Hearts.

Mad Tea Party can be found in Fantasyland, # 9 on my map, between Peter Pan's Flight and it's a small world:

Fantasyland4x.jpg

Once again, the other rides and attractions on my Fantasyland map are as follows:

1.) Ariel's Grotto
2.) Beauty and the Beast dark ride (inside castle)
3.) Casey Jr. Circus Train
4.) Cinderella's Golden Carrousel
5.) Dumbo the Flying Elephant
6.) Fairytale Gardens, featuring Storytime with Cinderella
7.) Fantasyland Theatre
8.) it's a small world
10.) Matterhorn Bobsleds
11.) Mickey Mouse Revue
12.) Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
13.) The Old Mill Ferris Wheel
14.) Peter Pan's Flight
15.) Pinocchio's Daring Journey
16.) Sleeping Beauty dark ride
17.) Snow White's Adventures
18.) Storybook Land Canal Boats

If anyone has questions, comments, and/or suggestions, please feel free to post! :)

I revised the character list for the Lilo & Stitch themed character breakfast in my Disney Studios theme park. This is held each morning at Soundstage Restaurant (similar to the former Disney-MGM restaurant, where Playhouse Disney: Live on Stage has since moved into); and characters include Mickey (in a movie director's outfit), Lilo, Stitch, Meg (from Hercules), Esmerelda, and Mulan.

I have made a few revisions to list of rides and attractions for Disney Studios, which is my second theme park in my proposed Disney theme park resort; including the addition of a Harry Potter ride and combining of AFI Showcase and That's Entertainment! Hollywood Gallery, since both of these sounded far too similar!

Once again, Disney Studios consists of four soundstages (with room for expansion if/when the need for more soundstages ever comes up), plus two additional studios in a building together designed specifically for Television Production called ABC-Disney Channel Studios. In addition, Disney Studios will include a backlot (complete with Residential Street and Catastrophe Canyon), an animation studio, as well as the Earfell Tower, which is an actual working water tower for the studio and park, unlike Disney-MGM's oversized prop! Here is what I now have:

Rides/attractions denoted by (FP) will use the FastPass service.

1.) American Film Institute Showcase: This is similar to Disney-MGM's AFI Showcase, but considerably larger in size and consisting mostly of permanent exhibits, with some that that change from time-to-time (all of Disney-MGM's AFI Showcase exhibits change periodically). American Film Institute Showcase focuses on Hollywood and the entertainment industry in general; and includes various Hollywood-related exhibits, artifacts, and memorabilia.

2.) Cinemagic Special Effects Stage (FP): This is a live stage show focusing on special effects for TV and motion pictures; which also includes audience participation in a number of segments!

3.) Disney Sound Studio: At The Disney Sound Studio, guests add sound effects to various Disney cartoons! This is an almost completely "hands-on" attraction, unlike the Sounds Dangerous show with Drew Carey, which currently runs at Disney-MGM.

4.) The Great Movie Ride: Although similar to The Great Movie Ride at Disney-MGM, this ride will have primarily different scenes from its Disney-MGM counterpart. I was planning on having primarily different scenes from Disney-MGM's GMR. So far, the only scenes I can think of which will remain the same are The Wizard of Oz and Singing In the Rain. Fantasia will be considerably longer, with a somewhat longer sequence with Mickey as The Sorcerer's Apprentice, and maybe another short scene or two. For the other Fantasia scenes (which will be considerably shorter than The Sorcerer's Apprentice), I was leaning towards one of the Nutcracker scenes; possibly either The Chinese Dance with the mushrooms or The Russian Dance with the thistles-- or possible even both! Here are a couple of midi files of these songs:

Chinese Dance:
http://www.kidsdomain.com/holiday/xmas/music1/n/nut5chin.mid
Russian Dance: http://www.diskuspublishing.com/russian.mid

Mary Poppins will remain as well, but with a completely different scene. Disney-MGM's ride uses the Chim Chim Cher-ee scene, whereas mine will use the Supercalafragilisticexpilaladocious musical number scene from Mary Poppins. Here is a midi file, in case you're not familar with the song, and for your listening enjoyment even if you are!

http://www.momentus.com.br/sound/Jazz/super.mid

As for the other scenes, not sure yet. However, I will replace the Hollywood Musical scene from Disney-MGM's GMR. Disney-MGM's ride has the By a Waterfall musical number from Footlight Parade (1933). In its place, my GMR will use the We're In the Money musical number scene from Gold Diggers of 1933. Here is a URL with song lyrics and an attached midi file:

http://www.harrywarren.net/songs/0140.htm

5.) The Great Muppet Movie Ride: This is basically a spoof of the Great Movie Ride; where The Muppets give riders their takes on various classic motion pictures; such as Frankenstein, The Wizard of Oz, and Peter Pan, just to name a few; along with an original entitled Pigs In Space: The Movie. Also, about halfway throught the ride, we'll re-create the HILARIOUS scene from The Muppet Movie, where the films jams in the projector and breaks halfway through the movie! In this scene, Kermit asks what happened, and The Swedish Chef (who is also the projectionist) responds, with film wrapped all over his body! Here is a sound byte of this scene:
http://users.ev1.net/~russ3/WavFiles/chef.wav

The Great Muppet Movie Ride was in fact planned for Disney-MGM, but was put off due to Jim Henson's death in 1990.

6.) Harry Potter: The Ride: Themed to the series of Harry Potter books and movies, Harry Potter: The Ride is sort of a combination of The Great Movie Ride and Star Tours, giving guests a ride through of the Hogwarts Castle and Grounds, with depictions of various scenes and events from the various Harry Potter books and movies!

7.) Hyperion Theatre: This is a large theater designed much like a movie palace cinema from the Golden Era of Hollywood. Hyperion Theatre presents a multi-character (using characters from various Disney cartoons together) similar (but not exactly the same!) to the show currently running on The Disney Cruise Line-- especially since I have heard a lot of good things about that show!

8.) Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular (FP): I know Disney-MGM has this, but I decided to include Indy since I think that this is one of their very best shows!

9.) Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3-D (FP)

10.) Lights, Motors, Action! (FP): Similar to the motor stunt show currently running at Disney-MGM's and the Walt Disney Studios (Paris) show.

11.) The Magic of Disney Animation: This is an actual working animation studio, which produces and demonstrates for guests 3 different types of animation!:
a.) 3-D Computer Animation (hopefully, a facility which would rival Pixar or Dreamworks!)
b.) Cel Animation
c.) Computer Animation

The tour begins in the Disney Animation Theater, where guests will be greeted by their tour guide, and treated to a whimsical explanation of how Disney animators bring characters to life, . This segment is co-hosted by various Disney characters, in a film/video who join the tour guide in the pre-show in introducing the magic of Disney animation to the guests, each representing their respective type of animation! The tour guide even talks back and forth with the characters, giving the impression that they're actually interacting with these characters! Here are the characters assisting the tour guide(s) in the preshow:

a.) Traditional Cel Cartoon Animation: Peter Pan, along with Tinker Bell (who provides healthy doses of Pixie Dust and other effects of animation magic!) This segment is also a bit of a holdover from the original preshow at Disney-MGM, and may include a number of similarities as well!

b.) 3-D Computer Animation: Buzz Lightyear

c.) Clay Animation: Clay, a little boy made of a ball of yellow clay (hence the name!), who periodically shows up on Playhouse Disney on the Disney Channel!

After the preshow, the tour guide takes the guests on an extensive tour of the facility, where animators can be shown at work! After that, the tour guide takes the guests to an interactive area, where guests can learn a few tricks of the animation trade! IIRC, the animation studio at Walt Disney Studios (Paris) has an interactive area like this one.

12.) Monsters, Inc. dark ride

13.) Playhouse Disney: Live on Stage!

14.) A VERY intense indoor roller coaster similar to Rock & Roller Coaster at Disney-MGM, but with a different track layout and theme. I was seriously considering a Disney Villians theme to the ride! (FP)

For the most intense part of the ride, I plan to use Malificent (from Sleeping Beauty). Here, Malificent will say something menacing to the riders, and then suddenly turn into a fire-breathing dragon, as riders take a VERY sharp inversion to avoid her!!!!!

15.) Star Tours (FP)

16.) Studio Tour: Behind the Scenes

17.) Superstar Television:
similar to the former Disney-MGM attraction, Superstar Television gives guests, through the marvels of modern technology (a bluescreen), the opportunity to appear in various TV sitcoms, both current and classic! :D

18.) Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (FP)

19.) Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Play It!

PARADE: Disney Studios will feature a Hollywood-themed parade similar to the Lights, Camera, Action! parade at Walt Disney Studios (Paris). Like the WDS parade, this parade will use actual parade floats instead of the antique cars used in Disney-MGM's parade. One of the most memorable floats from the Walt Disney Studios parade, which will also be used here, is a giant movie projector float with Tinker Bell sitting in front of the projector's lens!

In addition, the parade at Disney Studos will include Hollywood-theme songs/show tunes such as Hooray For Hollywood, There's No Business Like Show Business, You Ought to Be in Pictures, and That's Entertainment!; just to name a few! :animwink:

Last but certainly not least, Disney Studios runs the Sorcery In the Sky fireworks show every night.

I also have here a list of possible lands/streets for Disney Studios:

1.) Animation Courtyard
2.) The Backlot
3.) Hollywood Boulevard
4.) Muppets Courtyard (which includes The Great Muppet Movie Ride and Muppet*Vision 3-D)
5.) New York Street
6.) Production Courtyard
7.) Sunset Boulevard

As for the layout, I may get started on my maps soon, but haven't come up with anything yet. One thing I wanted to do was make my Disney Studios park easier to navigate that Disney-MGM or Walt Disney Studios, and with fewer dead ends in the layout. So far, I am considering having the studios on the left side instead of the right where Disney-MGM places theirs, to make it different. Also, I was considering placing the backlot/Residential Street/Catastrophe Canyon in the back behind the studios on the left, and placing Lights, Motors, Action! in the back, but on the right side, parallel with Catastrophe Canyon. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions concerning the layout of my Disney Studios park, please post them here! All other questions comments, and or suggestions are welcome too.

I look forward to hearing from you! :)

I also have made a few revisions to my Magic Kingdom park as well. In Discoveryland, Innoventions is gone (replaced by Carousel of Progress), Cosmic Waves is more-than-likely out, and Stitch's Great Escape will likely get replaced by a Stitch-themed motion simulator similar to Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast at Universal.

Fantasyland will get the imaginative 2-story Alice in Wonderland dark ride, similar to the one at Disneyland. I will also add Captain Hook's Pirate Ship, a walkthrough similar to the former Disneyland and current Disneyland Paris ship; which probably will go in Adventureland, perhaps in a setup similar to DLP's Adventure Isle, which has 2 small islands connected to mainland Adventureland by bridges (the other island will have Tarzan's Treehouse), with a swinging suspention bridge connecting the 2 islands together!

As many of you already know, I decided to include Mickey Mouse Revue in my Magic Kingdom theme park, and now have a plan for the show itself! WDW's Magic Kingdom had Mickey Mouse Revue from 1971 to 1980, and was later shipped to Tokyo Disneyland, where it has been continuously running since 1983.

Since a lot of time has passed since 1971, mine will be updated with more up-to-date animatronics, a couple of new musical numbers, and several new characters to be added, for example:

-- Sebastian from The Little Mermaid, with his seashell drums
-- Esmerelda from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, with her tambourine
-- Aladdin and the Genie, who have no instruments, but contribute to a very lively portion of the show's opening medley!
-- Peter Pan, with his Pan flute (I know he was around in 1971, but it really surprises me that he and his Pan flute weren't used then!)

http://home.cfl.rr.com/omniluxe/mmr.htm

The above weblink describes the original Mickey Mouse Revue show. Mine will be the same for the most part, with a couple of new songs. Here is the list of songs I will use so far, in order of their use:

1.) An opening medley of six familiar Disney songs. The first four are instrumental (as in the original show), while the latter two song clips (about a verse or so long) will include singing.
a.) "Heigh Ho,"
b.) "Whistle While You Work"
c.) "When You Wish Upon A Star"
d.) "Hi Diddle Dee Dee."
e.) "All In The Golden Afternoon"
, with Alice singing a verse or so as part of the opening medley. This very likely was the best scene in the show visually; with flowers popping like fireworks, and every lastpiece of this scene looked like it was crafted of confectioner's sugar. However, mine has been cut down to a verse or so for part of the opening medley, to help make way for the newer songs and due to the presence of the 2-story Alice in Wonderland dark ride I recently decided to add to Fantasyland. In fact, this musical number itself was, in addition to budgetary reasons, a reason the Alice in Wonderland dark ride, or another attraction telling the story of Alice's adventures like the Labrynth maze at Disneyland Paris (Hong Kong will get this maze as well), was not built at WDW's Magic Kingdom or Tokyo Disneyland!

f.) NEW! "Friend Like Me", from Aladdin. This medley piece opens with the opening brass horn stinger from the song, while Aladdin rubs his magical lamp.
A small cloud of stream erupts from the lamp spout, while the blue Genie rises up behind the lamp. When the Genie fully arises, he breaks into song with the final piece of the opening medley:

"Mister Aladdin, sir
What will your pleasure be?
Let me take your order
Jot it down
You ain't never had a friend like me
Mister Aladdin, sir
have a wish or two or three
I'm on the job, you big nabob
You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend
You ain't never had a friend, never had a friend
You ain't never had a friend like me
You ain't never had a friend like me, hah!"

2.) At the conclusion of that brief overture, Dumbo's tuba intones the first few notes of "Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf" as the wolf's shadow sneaks across the rear curtain toward center stage. Further right a section of the curtain rises to reveal the Three Little Pigs in a cross-section of Practical Pig's brick house. The pigs play and sing a few seconds of their signature song before the curtain closes over them and another section lifts to the left.

3 & 4.) The next vignette will feature Snow White and some forest animals sitting on a wooded hillside. She sings a version of "I'm Wishing" , the same version that emanated from Snow White's Adventure's wishing well at WDW until 1994, while the animals listen in. As Snow White finishes, an adjacent area of the hillside comes into view from behind another section of rising curtain. Here the Seven Dwarfs stand in their cottage, playing "The Silly Song." The dwarfs also sing part of the song with Snow White's help before the curtain lowers on their setting.

5.) NEW! The next number is "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid, which Sebastian sings as he plays his seashell drums, joined by is other ocean costars, while Ariel looks on. Unfortunately, I've never seen The Little Mermaid all the way through (only clips of it), so could someone fill me in a little about this scene from the movie?

6.) The next scene was from The Three Caballeros, and it will be the show's most animated and comical segment. A flying carpet rises from the pit to the left of the orchestra. On the carpet will be Donald, Panchito and Jose Carioca. They break out into the main theme from "Three Caballeros" in a blaze of music and color, with Donald on maracas, Jose on guitar and Panchito firing two pistols. Each shot will send sparks of bright light streaking across the room.

The three barely begin their song when the lights go out on the carpet. Instantaneously, Panchito and Jose appear (still singing) on the small side stage to the audience's right. Then Panchito fires a pistol and the glow of his bullet races across the stage, illuminating Donald on the left side stage. Donald shakes his maracas vigorously and continues the song like the frantic duck he is. With the sound of another ricocheting bullet, he disappears and reappeares on the right side stage. Another shot and Panchito and Jose pops up where Donald had been just seconds prior.

Moments later the three will be reunited on the carpet, where they quickly finish the song and disappear as quickly as they'd arrive. This will be definitely a highlight of the show.

7 & 8.) The next vignette begis with the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella, in her scullery maid outfit, standing at the far left side of the stage. The Fairy Godmother sings "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" and waves her wand around. Soon, in a shower of twinkling lights, Cinderella was transformed into her princess incarnation. Then the rear curtain lowers as Cinderella and Prince Charming, dance across it in a spotlight. They sing "So This Is Love" as they waltz. Clusters of hearts frame them on the curtain.

9.) Following the Cinderella segment, the sound of the orchestra comes rising up from the pit. To the right, Brer Fox, Brer Bear and Brer Rabbit rise into view and began singing "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah." As they sing, the orchestra rose beside them. The Three Caballeros reappeared also, and then the rear curtain liftes to reveal all of the show's scenes at once. The houses of the Three Little Pigs and Seven Dwarfs will be gone, leaving all the characters contrasted against a brightening sky in the background. Cinderella now stands with Prince Charming, and everyone joins in the song. A rainbow gleams across the horizon as the voices and instruments of all the characters reaches a crescendo.

At the close of the song, the entire stage fell dark save for a spotlight on Mickey. His pedestal spun to face the audience as the other characters sang the "Mickey Mouse Club Alma Mater." Mickey, all choked up, spoke. "Well folks, that concludes our show, we hope you enjoyed it..." Then, as he lets out a little mouse laugh, the main curtain was drawn and the show will be over.
