hmm, ok, where to start.....well, in general, it was a good trip! mom had been sick a week beforehand, and was sick the whole time we were there (and is still a bit sick) and dad started getting a bit sick toward the end, but they kept truckin. i'll go ahead with the bad stuff so then i can end on some good notes....worst thing that happened (to me, anyways) was my getting food poisoned :hurl: , which really stunk...first time ever getting it, and it just HAD to be the happiest place on earth. my guess is that it was either the grilled chicken sandwich i had a hurricane hanna's grill at beach club or the chicken strips i had at the land (i'm going with the grilled chicken sandwich seeing as it still turns my stomach just thinking about it) i didn't have to go to the hospital or anything, thank goodness...just let it run its course, and i was fine :)

i made a point to see CoP because i'm afraid it won't be there when i make it back to WDW this summer. so while waiting in line, i heard the cm and the woman in front of me talking. he asked her if she had ever seen the show, and she said no. then he said that it was a good thing that she's getting to see it cuz they're wanting to take it out. major bummer! i hated hearing that from a cm! course, it could either be fact, or it could just be a rumor he's heard...who knows...i didn't ask him. i thought about e-mailing Disney about it, and i might still do it, but i doubt they'll give me a whole lot of info on it if nothing has been publicly said yet.

i hated going through the bag checks...not that they were bad, it just got a little annoying after a while

rode body wars for the first time in my life...sorry to those who like it (which from what i can tell is very few) but that was the most pointless ride i've ever been on in my life! it was terrible! the sooner they get that thing outta there, the better, in my opinion!

ok, on to brighter subjects! decorations were beautiful, as always....of course, with me, i'm never a big fan of the holiday season in WDW because of the music they play...when i go to WDW, i want to here THEIR music, not Christmas music...but oh well....just trying to get us in the Christmas spirit i suppose. Osbourne lights just get better and better every year!
oh, i almost forgot! we had reservations for the candlelight ceremony, which was gonna be SO friggin cool since Roy Disney was going to be the guest speaker. then we find out from a jolly cm working at one of the american adventure posts that he had the cancel due to surgery (which i'm sure you all have heard/read by now) we were disappointed (but obviously glad he's ok) but were thankful we found out in time to get a refund. after all, he was our reason for getting reservations...we could always see the show from a distance. as it ended up, that was the night i got sick anyway, so i wouldn't have been able to enjoy it.

beach club villas (which is where we stayed) is very nice! i especially liked the little rooms in the lobby....i always pronounced the drawing room as the drawring room and with a British accent :)
OH! and we saw an alligator (a real life one) in beach club's canal (along with like 5 big turtles)! there were a few places that he could've easily crawled out of the water and into public areas...are there SUPPOSED to be alligators in those waters? cuz i've NEVER seen an alligator in WDW! i mean, i know they're supposed to be more afraid of us, but still, it'd be creepy seeing an alligator (and this one was pretty good sized too!) crawling around on a sidewalk!

the adding more characters thing was brilliant! it definately adds more magic! i swear, everywhere i looked was a character! i'd turn a corner, there'd be another character! i would've gone absolutely insane if i were still a kid getting autographs! which worries me a bit, cuz i'm taking my friend in June, and it'll be her first time ever in WDW...she said the other day that she's getting every character's autograph...then she asked me how many characters there were in all, lol! :D it just worries me cuz i'm afraid she's going to want to spend a lot of her time doing that instead of riding rides or whatever.

i liked how they celebrated the 100 years of magic...i thought it was very well done (though, i must admit, i liked the millenium celebration more) but the walt disney thing at mgm was well done, i thought. i just felt kinda rushed to look at everything before the doors opened to move on....especially with my family..geez, they must have given everything a quick overview and moved on...i wanted to stop and read and soak it all in! my pics turned out real well though! i was afraid of that cuz it was kinda dark, and i didn't use flash. but i took a pic of walt's 3rd grade desk with his carved initials (GREAT stuff! i loved looking at that!) and the 8 oscars for Snow White and the 7 dwarfs, and a pic of walt's office. oh, and the animatronic human they had set up. all of them turned out so nicely, and i was so happy they did!! i'll have to show them to you all when i get a chance to scan them in!

oh! good news (for me, anyway)...now this isnt' confirmed or anything like that...just my speculation. but it looked to me like Star Tours had a new sign (same sign, just didn't look nearly as faded as it once did) so i'm hoping that means that they aren't planning on changing it anytime too soon! :D

gosh, i think that pretty much does it...i can't think of anything else at the moment. like i said, i'll try to scan in some pics as soon as i can (though finals is coming up and i'm gonna be real busy with that going on) sorry for rambling so much...if you've read this far, thanks for sticking with me! :D hope i didn't offend anyone by anything i said...but if i did, don't let it get to ya too much...it's only one person's opinion :) take care guys (and gals) and have a magical day!

My kids LOVED Body Wars ... I, on the other hand, was thisclose to becoming physically ill right then and there. And poor DH hurt his back when it jerked pretty hard.

All I kept thinking was, "get that dang splinter and let's get the heck outta here!"

Awful, awful, awful.

Sorry to hear about the food poisoning. Definitely no fun. I had the same thing happen on my trip in November, but from the ABC Commisary. First time I'd ever had that kind of thing happen at WDW.:(

Remember... that is thier natural habitat... WDW was built around it... You'll find LOTS of gators swimming around the canals and such.

Don't bother it... and it won't bother you. It won't come climbing up the banks and onto the sidewalk... it's more than content right where it is. I've seen golfers taunt the gators before... not realizing a gator can run pretty gosh darn fast on land if you prevoke it.

Also, more than likely, the turtles were Snapper turtles... again... don't bother them, they won't bother you.

(However, it's fun to see the Snappers and the Gators go at it together... lol)

Hey man sounds like you had a great time except for the food poisoning. Fortunatley i havent ever gotten it from disney. i will have to agree with you on the body wars thing. i thought it was a waste of time but i try to do as much as i can at disney. Well i really want to stay in those beach club some time but dont know if i ever will. well i hope that i will have more fun than you do later this month( I doubt it though).:p

Thanks for the report. We just had family return from a trip in Nov. and they had mentioned how they all became sick. In fact, they couldn't stop throwing up for two days. They just "assumed" they had a bug of some sort but now I have a feeling it was Disney's food. Is this becoming more common? It's making me think twice about buying thier food in two weeks.

We saw alligators and turtles in the BCV canal too in September. I just thought it was cool. Someone must have called Disney though cause they had animal control people out there after about 15 minutes. So it does seem that Disney does their part to keep them away from the public when possible to prevent people vs. gator brawls. ;)

Glad to hear you're getting better.

 LOL!!! i actually wondered about that, sandjhooker! not so much if i got it from there, of course, but i just wondered if maybe it helped provoke it a bit.
i have three guesses as to how i got it. (1.) the cm's hands were unclean (2.)the chicken wasn't cooked right or (3.) MY hands had bad bacteria on them.

Fantasia Boi, thanks for the tip! :) yeah, i know it's their natural habitat, and i've seen tons of different types of native animals while there...rabbits and ducks being, of course, the most common. i've seen plenty of turtles before, though never that many at one time (and i didn't know they were snappers! i should've guessed though) i've even seen a few armidillos on the side of the rode (though it's been years since i've seen one) and i saw deer on the natural trial at Wilderness Lodge last year. ok, call me crazy, but i never knew Florida even had deer until last year...i don't know why, but i just never thought about it! same thing with alligators...i knew Florida had those, but because i had never seen one on the loose in WDW, i just never though there were any! now i just think it's the coolest thing in the world! lol! :hammer:

wishiwere@wdw, don't worry too much about the food :) this was my 14th trip to WDW and my first time ever getting sick because of the food. really, i don't care how much you pay for something, if you don't like it, don't eat it! i think that could've been part of it...i didn't like the chicken sandwich, but because i knew we had paid 8 bucks for it, i forced down as much as i could. in the long run, didn't seem to pay off much though.

Enjoyed reading your trip report very much. Sounds like you had a good time in spite of the sickness. We got sick after eating at O'Hanna's about 5 years ago. Three of the four of us didn't even make it back to our rooms before it struck and one didn't get sick at all. Go figure! We all ate the same stuff there. It didn't ruin our trip either we just did the bathroom tour of Disney for a couple of days. Ha, ha. 44 days to go.

Dizknee -- Don't forget about the wild turkeys too!

You can tell a snapper turtle from another kind because snappers have what almost looks like a mutated beak... lol

Great trip report Dizknee_Phreek. I also had a good laugh when I checked out your website. Just curious ... was Rick along for this latest trip?

We saw wild turkeys while at the bus stop at POR--the 2nd or third busstop in the back. We have never seen a gator though. I think that would be very cool.
