My Number 1 Tip At AK.

The top tip: Eat the combo platter at Flame Tree Barbeque

Strange tidbit: to my knowledge (you can correct me if I'm wrong), this is the only theme park on Disney property where they play Bruce Springsteen and Banarama (in Dino land). Aerosmith comes with the territory at HS.
Oooh, I love Springsteen!! Would love to hear him in a WDW park.

Dinoland, you and I need to hang out more!

Animal Kingdom is many things but AK is definitely Nahtazu. Remember that.

Take your time, don't go through the very normal Safari/Everest/Dinosaur/Parade/Leave route. Look around, find the details. No the park doesn't have that many rides. Who cares? It's a THEME park and its theme are animals.

Have you stopped to look at the Tree Of Life of all angles? Did you see the Anteater at the park entrance or did you rushed through to get your Kilimanjaro Safari Fastpass? How cool is he?

Did you meet Divine?

Have your child been picked to be a part of the Flights Of Wonder show?

AK is a marvellous place and should not be taken for granted.

Yes, BUT...how many of your zoo's feature netting for hundreds of meters?

Yeah, well, didn't think so.

Well, at least the netting doesn't obscure the view of something cool from a unique vantage point. I mean with lackage of actual attractions, prettiness is at a premium and they are surely aware of that.

Yes. DAK gets away with being a ten million visitor theme park despite having only four rides because you are supposed to slow down and take it all in. DAK is about exploration. About surfing the Dak Wide Web.

DAK doesn't need rides. DAK's Maharadja Netting Trek is as good as anything UNI throws at WDW.

Talk to the CM's stationed on the Exploration trail, Jungle Trek, at the Conservation Station and other animal filled trails. They love to impart facts about the animals, their habitat and answer questions you might have. What an opportunity to learn a lot in a fun place.

Four rides? You undersell like everyone else. I count 5 when everything is at capacity. Methinks you have forgotten the classic Triceratops Spin which is the anchor ride of the classic carnival area Dino Land.

Oy, the spinner! How could I have forgotten about the marvel that is the Triceratops Spin!

Who else but the fabled Imagineers could've come up with a spinner when given nothing but a blank slate, the task of conjuring up a world class ride with a real wow factor, and a billion dollars?

But seriously...how come every ride at DAK is permanently broken but none of WDW's five hundred spinners ever have any malfunction? :banghead:

Why, God, why can't it be Aladdin or the Triceratops that breaks down beyond repair!? :grumpy:

I will never argue the fact that DAK is a beautiful park. But they put most of their effort into the "theme" and less into the "park" on that one. I enjoy walking the park (if it's below 80 degrees, since the park inherently adds 15 degrees to itself), especially at night. But there just isn't enough to entertain me there. I go to theme parks (especially Disney) to be entertained. Of course, I've never enjoyed zoos either, so DAK just doesn't really match my theme park interests from the get go. But that's just me - not everyone :)
Fair enough, I just don't think "Go to another park" is a very good tip. My wife and I rank AK right up at the top of the list, especially in entertainment, but it obviously is not for everyone.

Aladdin is the one ride at WDW that I think should be broken down and crated. Let's all have a meeting and figure out a good way to make Adventure Land terrible to walk around whilst decreasing its visual appeal.

Also, whomever said "4 Rides" is right on the money.
1 - Kilimanjaro Safaris
1 - Expedition Everest
1 - Dinosaur
1/4 - TriceraTop Spin
1/4 - Primeval Whirl (aka "The O.J. Coaster", seeing how it leaves bruises on people who love it, and is known to have killed two people)
1/2 - Kali River Rapids.

Yep. Just four rides.
