Hi everyone. So I just got back from a week long stay in WDW on January 30th. The whole gang went. 8 of us in total. The weather wasn't bad... high 60s to mid 70s. No rain either. But there was one tiny problem. 6 of the 8 people in our party designated me as their personal tour guide and I feel like I missed out on some of the less popular things in the parks because I was making sure everyone else got to see what they wanted sooooooo.... I just booked another trip. Eek. This time just my best friend and I. My fiance' said go all out and make this a good one so that's exactly what I did. October 24th-30th. Planning on doing MNSSHP as well. Is it bad that I am far more excited for this one then I was this past one? I sort of feel guilty lol.

No. Not at all. We have traveled to WDW with numerous family members and I never enjoy myself nearly as much as I do when its just my wife, kids and I. Don't feel bad.

Being the trip planner does have draw backs. Our last trip involved my in-laws and while I do love them, it was there first trip and they relied on me for everything. We were always together and I too feel like a missed a few things because of it. So, DH and I are headed out in 10 days for a trip together, just the two of us and I'm definitely more excited about this trip than any other (except the first time we took our son because that was so special.) Have a great trip in October. I'm hoping for a bounce back offer so that I can go again then.

Your being a trip planner and tour guide was a good deed. I’m guessing your gang wouldn’t of had as good a time without your insights. An October trip for you and your fiancé is a spot-on reward and you should be excited. If for some reason your fiancé can’t make the trip, consider going solo. I’ve done it and had a great time.

I'm going next month with my mom (yes...we actually enjoy each other's company!), and my aunt and uncle are also going at the same time, with their two little kids, for the first time. They're saying at CB, we'll be at POR. I'm really looking forward to seeing my little cousins when they walk through the gate at MK and when they see the castle for the first time. I'm a little bit nervous that we might end up playing the tour guide role, but I think it will actually be fun. We've been to Disney several times and we're looking forward to helping them get the most they can from their first trip.

Oh @Disney Shib ....we should all have this problem. I took 3 friend to Disney a few years ago and it was a first visit for 2 of them....certainly more manageable than your tour guide experience. I think you earned the extra trip to the park....no guilt required. Enjoy your trip and know that I am very jealous! Where will you be staying? :cat:

We are staying at a family member's timeshare offsite. It's located right off of I-Drive near Seaworld.

Yup, my trip in September was with my friends who had never been. I definitely missed so much because I had to show them everything. I had to take all the pictures and it just wasn't as much fun. I'm way more excited for my upcoming trip with just my fiancé and I. Don't feel bad at all!

Good idea. We are presently in WDW and as we sit and wait for Off Kilter, are planning our next visit. Thinking September for the Halloween party. Woo hoo...

Hi Sam!

A couples trip can be the best! We've take three without our DD now, 4th planned for september, and love it. This is not to say we don't enjoy our trips with the DD, but there is just something really enjoyable about two adults being able enjoy the parks without worrying about others.

Have a great trip in October, it's a great time to go!

Trips with lots of family are do hard to get the full enjoyment out of it. Our last two trips were with family and after the last one my wife and I were ready to never go back because the cost was too much for the limited enjoyment we got out of it. However we are now eager to return with just my wife, our son, and myself. I've also told my wife that I will never do a full trip with other family again. I'llhelp plan thier trip and if they are going the same time as us we can plan some meals and a few days together but not the entire trip.
