My Magic Experience With the Lost and Found

This isn't really a report from a trip, but I think it's a cool story from my trip in February.

It was my first night in Orlando, and my friends and I decided we would go to the Magic Kingdom for the rest of the night time activities. One of my friends had never been to WDW before, so I was giving him little tips along the way so he didn't get overwhelmed when we got there. One thing that I stressed was make sure not to lose your ticket, for obvious reasons. So naturally half way down Main Street he comes up to me freaking out because, of course, he lost his ticket.

Long story short the next day we went to lost and found at the TTC and they had a gigantic stack of tickets which we searched through for 30 minutes and finally found his ticket.

Just thought it was cool how Disney actually takes the time to look for lost tickets and provide a fairly simple solution to retrieve them. Anyone else have an experience like this?

dude want to hear my story?

So I have a pair of nice 225 dollar Maui Jims, a few days before our trip in March I couldn't find them anywhere! I looked high and low, no dice... seriously I was ed. Then I went out and reluctantly bought a new pair, also expensive. The night before our trip I went to my moms house, she lives in Boston proper and always drives us to the airport. When my parents heard me talking about the glasses and that I bought a new pair my dad just went into his room and told me to take this 1980's Rayban Wayfarer II's... these are the ones with real Bauch and Laumb (spelling?) glass lenses. He bought them in like 1983.

Now normally I wear croakies so I can just drop the shades and they're safe. But considering I was leaving in 8 hours I didn't have a chance to buy some. Anyway, to make this quick I had so much crap on me during this trip that I had the shades like clipped my shirt and getting off Test Track they must have fallen.

Went to GR and left a description, filled out paperwork, and called back daily to the lost and found to see if they were found. NO dice... ed. Came home and actually reordered the same pair of RayBans on ebay and I was going to replicate my dads name inside with a knife rather than admitting I lost them.

A week later I go and check the mail and there is a package, they mailed me my damn glasses. Can you imagine that! Like 12 days total went by in a park that sees 50,000 people and someone a) turned them in, and b) they took the time to mail them to me!

Wow that's crazy, can't believe they actually mailed them back to you! I just find it cool how Disney takes the time to care for lost items and make sure they get back to their owner. I know a lot of places that would just say too bad and move on from it.

At the end of the day we had visited a friend in New Jersey who ended up calling me and told me she found my original Maui Jim's! So original pair found. Lost pair at Disney found! Returned the ray bans intended to trick my dad back to eBay seller

A month later, all square!

If I found something like someone glasses or park tickets, I'd definitely turn them in. But it's pretty amazing when something like that finds its owner at such a huge, crowded place.

I was at animal kingdom and had put my sweatshirt on the seatback of my husbands scooter. Next thing I knew it was gone. I freaked out my wallet was in the pocket! Went to all the near by shops and asked if it was turned in. One shop said someone had turned it in and they sent it to guest relations lost and found at the front of the park. I ran up there. When it was my turn I explained the problem and gave them a description of it and what was in the pocket. The girl went in the back and came out with it. What relief. Only problem she wanted to see my ID. It was in the wallet in the pocket of my sweatshirt. Told her to look there, she found the wallet but said she wasn't allowed to look in it. Finally got a supervisor and explained everything to her. She said do I have permission to open your wallet I said YES! She opened it and there was my Drivers License with my picture that she could tell was me. It was stressful but glad they did what they did and did not give it to anyone else!

We have never lost anything expensive but when my sister was around 6 or so we went to disney and after coming back to the resort after the first park of our trip, we realized we lost her autograph book. She was heart broken. She had just met all the of fab 5 and a few princesses and now had no autographs. My parents told her they would buy her a new one and she can keep getting autographs. She was still upset so my dad and her went to guest relations at Pop Century and told them what park she lost her autograph book in and that it had her name and address in it. The CM was great and said they would keep an eye out for it but to get another autograph book so they don't miss any characters in the other parks.

Everyday we checked guested relations, never found it.

The day before we checked out we came back to our room after a long day at the parks and found an autograph book on the table with a note saying "We couldn't find your autograph book so some of our friends signed a new one for you"

The autograph book had every single page filled with a characters autograph. 9 years later, it is still her favorite thing she has ever gotten in WDW.

I hope we have a magical lost and found experience. DH left his favorite ball cap on space mountain. We went back several times to see if it had been found. No luck. I called Lost and found and reported it so I am hoping that they will call us with good news.

My experience with lost and found at WDW was far less magical but definitely not Disney's fault. I was paying for a couple of our beloved Dole Whip floats when I dropped my KTTW card on the ground. When I went to pick it up, it was gone. I looked and looked and watched to see who might have put their foot over it but no luck. It was probably 10 minutes before I had someone on the phone who could help me and they said someone had already attempted to use the card. A new card was printed at my resort.

One Little Spark...
I lost my camera (I think it slipped out of my pocket on Space Mountain into the ride vehicle), last trip. I looked all over the place that night (it really ruined my night...the camera is replaceable, but the pictures / video are not).

Anyone there that night would have seen a guy and a kid searching all over Tomorrowland, retracing our steps from Buzz to Space Mountain using the flashlight on his cell phone...yeah, that was me...looking for my lost camera.

Exasperated, I eventually gave up looking, but it put a damper on the night (for me). I stopped by City Hall on the way out, and no one had turned one in. I left my contact information, and left hoping that as they cleaned up for the evening someone would find it.

I had another camera (the Pentax waterproof one), but it only does 720 video and the resolution on the pictures aren't nearly as good as the Sony. I was bummed.

The next day I called to check, and they hadn't found it. I was getting discouraged. HOWEVER, the next day I got a call from a 407 number I didn't recognize as we were headed to Blizzard Beach on the bus. They had found my camera! Asking me a few simple questions about what pictures they would find on it, they confirmed it was mine.

I picked it up later in the day.

Vacation lifesaver!
