I just did the math & Disney is 3 hours & a few minutes away from us & in order to get there, do an early check in at our hotel & get to the park when they open we are going to need to leave around 5:30am lol! Maybe even a little earlier. Luckily I'm an early bird, but they aren't. Guess I'll do the driving & let DH sleep in the car at least LOL!

On second thought, I actually like the idea of waking up my daughter & announcing we are going to WDW & she better get up & get ready. The roads will be clear & I can enjoy the sunrise as I'm driving. We can stop for breakfast along the way too. I think it will be a fun memory :)

We used to drive every year when I was little. We got up at 4 - my mom packed a cooler with snacks and we ate bagels in the car. To this day when I eat a cold buttered bagel it reminds me of the drive to Disney. Of course, I live around 22 hours away and it was always a 2 day trip so it was definitely not as much fun as your trip will be!

How nice! See exactly what I mean! It's the little simple things that make the most amazing long lasting memories!

Personally, I'd still consider staying overnight nearby. How tired will everyone be by mid day if you are all still going after getting up that early? I'd rather have a good night's rest so I could have more energy when I get there.

Well I actually compared the prices of our rooms if we were to check in on Thursday, instead of Friday & it came out to be like $20 cheaper a night! So I changed it & now we are going to be there from Thursday 8/28 to Sunday 8/31. I figure we will leave when our daughter gets out of school on Thursday day, get to the hotel, relax at the pool, check out the hotel, get some dinner. And be all fresh & well rested to get to the park first thing Friday morning :D:D:D

Thats not bad, we normally leave at 4-4:30. I have everything packed and ready the night before and put the kids in their seats and they go back to sleep. We drive up from Miami.

How old is your daughter? I ask because I have done this before, gone after work/school. I much prefer the kids sleeping in the back at 4 am then do the after/work and school. By the time I hit Broward county, I was ready to jump out of the moving car to my death. They were driving me crazy, and its because they were wound up from school.

Actually change of plans. We will be leaving Thursday early afternoon, instead of early Friday morning now. So we can get to the hotel, relax & get a good night's sleep before hitting the parks Friday morning :D

Any plan to get you to WDW is a good plan! It really just depends if you're a morning person or not - or if you can go on little sleep or need a full night's rest. I sleep better at home, but never before a trip bc I'm too amped up.

I'm sure things will work out and it sounds like you got a great deal!! $20 less a night??? Score!!
