The ride didn't break down. There probably was a slow wheelchair party at unload. It's a completely normal thing that happens pretty often. There was no danger at all.

So you have a neat story to tell about the time you got stuck on TOT. 
If you visit WDW enough times you will be stuck on various rides at some time. There have to be many safety checks installed in each ride, the CM wasn't overly concerned because he/she knew more about what was going on than you and it wasn't a big deal. Better the TOT than being stuck in IASW like I was and have to listen to "That Song" over and over and over and over and over and over and over...................
