My DW wants to go back to WDW and we haven't even been there yet!

Last night we were sitting and talking about our upcoming trip in August when my DW looked at me and seriously said "Is it too late to book another trip for Christmas?" I almost fell off my chair. Her logic is "Christmas isn't what it used to be, our DS will be 16, our nieces and nephews are in college let's go somewhere where Christmas is still magical." Now as much as I love WDW and would go in a second, I the person my DW calls "Mr Disney," had to remind her about the cost and the vacation time etc. I suggested a trip in April, the weather will be nicer in both Florida and New England, we will have some vacation time built up at our jobs, we will have saved the money AND her DH's (me) birthday is in April what a birthday present that would be. I think I'm booking this one on a bounce back in a few weeks.

We are a 60 year old couple and the kids flew the coup and where living far away with their families. We live in Florida and Christmas got depressing with no family around. So we go to Disney. We go early December to beat the crowds. It really helps. I get to see all those Holiday decorations and it cheers me up. My son and his family now live in Lakeland, Fl and my daughter-in-law works at Disney! We live on the east coast of Florida 3 hours south of Disney. So we meet up with them one of the days and do dinner and exchange presents! The rest of the time is just do what we want and when we want and makes a great vacation. April is crowded with spring break crowds and you are getting into the rainy season. You could still book Dec as a bounce back. Be prepared August will be hot and rainy just plan for it and you will have a good time!

If you go in April, check the dates for Easter. WDW is packed the week before and the week after Easter. If you go at the end of April, the weather is gorgeous and the crowds are manageable. Plus, you can see the Flower and Garden Festival in Epcot. I personally would also stay clear of Christmas week because it is crazy busy again. Go earlier in Dec. if you want to enjoy the Christmas decorations and special events.

If you could wait until early May, it would be less crowded and you could enjoy the Flower & Garden Festival. Maybe another sneak peak with Stars Wars Weekend too....

In 2014 Easter Sunday falls on April 20, later than most years. We went the first of April in 2011 when Easter fell on April 24, and the the crowds were very manageable.

That's a great wife!!! Doesn't needing money for things suck? Although Christmas would be fun, not having the vacation time or budget would be a big No at our house. I do agree with other posters though, early May would be ideal over April, and an AP purchased for your upcoming trip and another one will probably save you money in the long run. That is, of course, if you do another trip within a year. Have a great upcoming trip though.

An April birthday trip would be good BUT your wife has the better idea ( if at all possible, cost wise ). A Disney Christmas trip is fantastic. Nothing beats the holiday spirit, decorations, festivities as Disney can do them. If Christmas isn't what it used to be for you... you need to experience it at Disney to get that joy back. If I could only go at one time of the year it would be at Christmas.;)
