My "conversion" story

AofA is really nice my dad stayed there in December and we were able to visit it. The Finding Nemo Pool is incredible and music is piped in under the water. One warning though if you are in the Litle Mermaid section...It's incredibly far from the lobby, restaurant, and buses. My dad's diabetic and heavier set and it was not good for him to have to eat go back to the room for his shot of insulin then back to the front for the bus. The other suites are not as far. Pop Century is across the water and is worth checking out too either for a stay there or just to see the way that the resort is decorated as well. Not trying to downplay AofA as it really is beautifully done and we almost stayed there before free dining offer convinced me to stay at Coronado Springs Resort adding 2 days to our trip and getting $66.00 back from our original booking. Have fun take lots of photos.
That happened to us too. We were booked for POR. When the free dining came out, we switched to CSR (POR was not available), added 2 days to the trip and still saved $200! Have a good trip.

That is, until we hit the Magic Kingdom the next day. We had so much fun so quickly there, that about an hour into our day, I stopped Katrina in front of Cinderella Castle and apologized for being such a stick-in-the-mud the whole time leading up to the trip and admitted I was having an absolute BLAST and had fallen in love with the place.

Important lesson here....Way to man up!!

Great stories in this thread. Unsure if this counts as a conversion but here goes.

Last year was to be our first and only WDW visit, mum's boyfriend had spent alot of time in America before for his job, he'd lived out in LA for 2 years, been to all the theme parks over there over the years like 6flags, WDW etc so when we decided we'd go to Florida he said he'd like to go for 3 weeks but mum wasn't sure so we ended up going for 2 weeks.

We had such a wonderful time, even my 19 year old brother who felt he was beyond Disney loved it (of course shops like Ralph Lauren and many more found at the various shopping complexes there helped.

By the end of it none of us wanted to leave - both me and my brother had been to New York before but Orlando was everything I wanted from America - the look and feel of the places from petrol stations to restaurants etc it was as if there was something new to see each day and that was before we stepped foot in any park - billboards and highway signs were very American I felt like I was in a very realistic dream.

We came back although kind of happy to be home due to tiredness we could have stayed for ever but it was ok cos we was already talking about going back in 5 years time.

Fast forward to Christmas and mums boyfriend had been itching to get back this year stating that he would pay - mum felt this unfair and possibly too soon to return (I disagree) so that's when it came the promise to return in 2014 (shorter than that 5 year plan) and this time for 3 maybe 4 weeks - now that's a conversion I'm happy to accept

I remember our first time. My boys were 6 and 9. I had gone in the 70's when there was only one park and told my wife she would be dissappointed. She said we ARE going. I went to our AAA office and booked the trip. This was in 1997. Wow was I surprised. We have been hooked ever since. Now our boys are older and we ask if they want to go but they are busy with college and other things. Don't get me wrong they still like to go,but usually we make the trips with just the two of us. However, we are makeing a trip in December with another couple who have been asking to go with us. They see we have a great time and want us to show them around. They said just book it and plan it and we will have a good time. I hope so.

Great story!!

I dated someone for a while who told me that Disney wasn't a priority and he wasn't keen on going.... ok, fine. But then his company had thier annual sales meeting at Disney and as part of the trip they were allowed in the parks.... he came back with a Tigger plush and some other things from his trip (nothing for me, the big Disneyite, btw....) I said if you liked it THAT much, let me book a trip for us. He agreed and I booked a trip to BC.... About a week later I was talking to him about where did he want to eat, did he want to invite his family..... and he never replied. I asked him again in a voicemail....no reply. About a month later, he stopped communicating totally..... ended up going on the trip alone.

Like a storybook character, 'Someday my prince will come...."

Tell me when you want to go to Disney and I'll go with ya anytime!

Guys, you'll be proud... My conversion reached a whole new level. Last night, my wife asked me a WDW-related question (which she's been doing more and more over the past few weeks since we have a trip coming up in December), and I quickly answered her, like always. As she was walking away, she stopped and said "Oh, no." I asked what was wrong... she answered "You know more about DisneyWorld than I do now! Like, WAY more!" I laughed and said "Well, get used to it, it's only going to get worse!"

Who woulda thunk it, huh?

This literally brought tears to my eyes!

I was not converted. I was born and raised in the Disney-religion ;) My DH, however, was completely converted after our first trip together in 2008. He's not as obsessed as I am, but boy does he enjoy our trips there (admittedly much more than he ever thought he would :D)

Welcome to the clan, dear Brother. I,too, was a "WDW, eh" person. Didn't go until 1996, in August no less, on the way back from a business trip. Both my daughter and I hated the heat, the crowds (yeah, right, crowded in 1996) and a Pepto Bismal pink Cinderella's castle. Disliked it so much we didn't go back for 14 years. Now you couldn't keep me away from the place, I've got 15-16 sets of ears, enough pins for 7 lanyards, dishes, cups, a cookie jar, etc., etc. And my daughter has turned her kitchen into a Mickey kitchen. And I now own a piece of Disney real estate. Yes, I've plunged into the deep end, for sure.
