Pre-Trip My birthday at Disney Springs??! Don't mind if I do!

We really had no plans to return to Orlando before our upcoming trip in November for our first DVC adventure, but sometimes plans change. Dennis is changing jobs at the end of June and we decided it would be good to get away for a few days in the weeks between the end of one era and the beginning of the next. We looked at several options including Niagra Falls, Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach but alas we found the best deal at Disney Springs. Thanks to an employer discount we found a fantastic deal at the Best Western at Disney Springs that just so happened to coincide with my birthday. Yes, please. We will drive from Columbus overnight on June 10th and then spend 4 nights and 5 days soaking in some hot Florida sun! We have my birthday dinner reserved at Art Smith's Homecomin' and I managed to snag another bucket list item on Groupon with half priced tickets for Characters in Flight. We plan to visit Coco Beach for a day and will have family portraits done at either Boardwalk or Animal Kingdom Lodge on Wednesday. No parks this trip, but I'm sure we will still manage to soak in plenty of the Disney Magic. We can't wait to be "home" again!!

It's hard to top the Monday we had, but Tuesday was pretty good too. We had breakfast at the food court and then headed to Cocoa beach for a few hours. Grace hasn't seen the ocean since she was 3 and she loved it!! We will consider a beach vacation there. It was beautiful and not over crowded at all!

We stopped at the outlets on our way back to the resort. I had Birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and a coupon for Vera Bradley. Got a great deal there and found a couple of good things at the Character warehouse too! It was raining the entire time so we didn't stay long.

We decided to browse our home resort for the evening and had dinner at The Mara at AKL. Confirmed our decision once more that we made the right DVC choice. Can't wait to stay there in November.

Dennis and Grace ended the evening with a nice swim in the dark. Another perfect Disney day!!

We had an amazingly delicious breakfast at Whispering Canyon on Wednesday morning. It was our first time there for breakfast and it definitely will not be our last!! We took the boat to the Epcot monorail and took a leisurely ride around the parks. We went back to the room planning to swim but those plans were foiled by yet another rain storm. Darn it!

We spent the evening at Disney Springs sharing a burger at D-Luxe burger. It was great! We finished up our shopping at World of Disney and Dennis grabbed his dessert at Ghiradelli with a Twin Peaks Sundae. Grace and I decided cookies sounded better so we chose some treats at Goofys instead!! We waited until we got back to the room to enjoy them! Dennis and Grace took one final dip in the pool but it didn't last long....it was chilly!!

And just like that, our trip is over.
But not before one more "first"....beignets at Port Orleans for breakfast! OMG! Where have those been all of my life?!?! I am pretty sure the almost 6 pounds I lost before the trip have been replaced, but it was worth every bite!! This was a relaxing, family focused trip! The best kind! Only 5 more months until the next one and this time we can fulfill Graces repeated requests to go "down in the ocean". The hardest part of this trip was explaining to her why we were not going to Magic Kingdom. We really didn't think she cared either way, but once again she proved us wrong. We couldn't believe how many times she asked. We have definitely created a Disney monster!! ❤️❤️

Thanks for following along!! Stay tuned for the next edition in just a few more months!!

Can't wait to read your next TR. A few years ago I spent some time in Orlando but didn't go to the parks, just DS and some resort hopping. It was nice as you do still get some Disney magic without the high price tag however I found it hard being so near the parks and not getting to go in.
