Have a question if anyone has and suggestions or answers...

I am moving to Orlando next week and we (my fiancee and I) will be living across the I4 from Downtown Disney. We received some premium annual passes from my sister as an early wedding gift so that we can enjoy Disney as much as possible, and have the luxury of hanging out with family when my sisters and parents (DVC members) come down the couple times a year as usual.

Here's the question... when the passes were purchased, we were living out of state. they are not activated yet, and when we do activate them, we will be Florida Residents. I notice differences in allowances and discounts etc. for passholders and FL residents.

Are there any pro's / con's to the passes, or as a now florida resident are certian benifits not available to me (i.e. free parking, etc.)? Can anyone tell me the differences I may encounter or things I should expect when using them?

Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

Hope to see you at one of the WDWMagic meets... would be great to put some faces to the names... have not posted much, but have read considerable ammount of threads and history of this board in the past.

As an AP holder (living in Orlando) you are entitled to all the benefits associated with your pass - no matter where you are living. Now how the AP and its benfits compares to the benefits of a Florida Residents Pass I am unable to assist with - but it won't be long before someone on here can help

the only difference are the price. The FL resident passes are generally $100 less

If I am not mistaken the residential passes have black out dates, where as Anual Passes do not (except special events such as of MVMCP etc).

nope... only the FL resident seasonal pass has blackout dates. My FL Resident Premium AP is just like any Premium AP, but $100 less.

If I recall correctly...

Since they were purchased as (for want of a better term) "regular" annual passes (rather than as Florida APs), you won't be subject to any unusual restrictions. If (when!) you renew next year, you'll have the opportunity to either purchase...
A) A Florida Resident Annual Pass. Exactly the same as what you have now, just at a slight discount.
OR...
B) A Florida Resident Seasonal Pass. Similar to what you have now, but... No free parking, and you'll be subject to blackout dates (you won't be let in during the most crowded times of the year). In exchange for giving up these perks, the cost will be much lower.

For those that hate me...

Just give me some time...

-I will go buy a blow up mattress (so you can rest your weary heads)
-I have a Mickey waffle maker so I can make a "Disney breakfast" (see my avatar)
-Have a new car so it's pretty reliable- (depending on if I get a job with WDW or just in the area I can either drop you off at the park of your choice, or at least across the I4 at Downtown Disney where you can catch a bus/shuttle to your next destination)
-I'll come home for lunch and make you a sandwhich with toasted mickey faces on the toast (have that toaster as well)
-Every night celebrate New Years observing the fireworks from Downtown Disney from my balcony on the 3rd floor.

fee: you have to ride the Haunted Mansion (with me in tow)

I've got a lot to work out, but I should be on the disney reservation site pretty soon.
