I finally found the time to write a summary of our recent WDW trip. Here it is...
9/20/08
Arrived in Orlando around 12:30pm.
Wait at DME was minimal (nothing like last year when we had to wait for about 2 hrs).
Arrived at Pop Century around 2:00pm.
Checked in - no rooms available in the 70's section, so we stayed in the 50's section again.
Ate lunch at the food court.
Went to Epcot & walked around the WS & saw Illuminations.
9/21/08
My daughter & I went to CRT at 9:20am.
We got to the MK early so we could see the opening - I just love it!
Before our breakfast we visited BBB so that I could take her pic in front of the full length mirror.
They sprinkled some pixie dust in her hair (no charge).
It was very busy, but we were greeted & seated in a timely manner.
We actually had the same waiter this year as last year (he was very nice).
We saw Cinderella, Mary Poppins in her white dress, Belle in regular clothes, Aurora, & Snow White.
Afterwards, we went to Tink's Treasures (my favorite store).
It was undergoing a refurb, so only about half the store was open.
I was disappointed that I didn't see the dresser where you can peek in the keyhole to see Tink.
On our next visit to the MK a few days later, I noticed that it was completely closed.
We rode a few rides & headed back to the resort before it got hot.
That evening, we had reservations at Chef Mickey's.
It was great, as usual.
After dinner, we went back to the MK.
9/22/08
Slept in, ate breakfast at Pop food court, & went to DHS in the early afternoon.
Saw a few attractions including The Muppets 3D, Star Wars, Voyage of TLM, etc.
Attempted to ride TSM, but the wait was extremely long.
Had dinner at H&V.
Saw Fantasmic.
Visited a few more attractions including TOT (my daughter rode this one w/ my hubby & my niece) & RNRC (my hubby & I rode this one - I usually don't do upside down rides, but I am so glad that I finally tried this one - although my eyes would not open for the first half of the ride, I was able to see some of the neon signs - of course, we were on the very front for my first ride). We even splurged & got the RNRC pic w/ the frame.
9/23/08
Slept in & went to Epcot before lunch.
Ate lunch at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot.
Visited some attractions, including Soarin', Nemo & Friends, etc.
Ate dinner at LeCellier (this was our first visit there - it was great).
Visited the WS again.
9/24/08
Went to the AK.
Visited some attractions, including Rafiki's Planet Watch, Kilamanjaro Safaris, etc.
I had heard so many negative things about the RPW, that I was reluctant to visit it, but we actually had a great time there. We even saw a vet giving one of the WDW ducks a check up.
It is true that the animals are more active in the mornings on the safari.
Ate lunch at Restauranosaurus (wanted to eat at FTB, but the kids didn't like anything on the kids' menu).
Visited more attractions, including Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, It's Tough To Be A Bug, etc.
We decided to leave before closing & go to FW for Chip & Dale's Campfire Sing Along.
The kids got to dance & meet Chip & Dale.
9/25/08
Slept in & then went back to the MK.
Ate lunch at Pinocchio's Village Haus.
Visited many attractions.
Went back to the resort in the early afternoon to rest before dinner.
We took the boat from the MK to the WL.
Ate dinner at Whispering Canyon - it was great! :slurp:
But, don't ask for ketchup or lose your fork!
9/26/08
Slept in this morning. :snore:
Went to the Grand Floridian for lunch at Gapirilla Grill & Games.
My daughter & niece had a reservation at the Wonderland Tea Party at 1:30pm. It lasted about an hour - they had a great time!
The guys rode the boats from the Grand Floridian while the little girls went to the tea party & the big girls went shopping.
After the tea party, we went to Epcot.
The girls had a dinner reservation at The Princess Storybook & the guys had a dinner reservation at LeCellier.
Our (the girls') dinner was great - my daughter & niece had their pic taken w/ Belle in her bright yellow evening gown.
We saw Aurora, Jasmine, Ariel in her ball gown, & even Cinderella was there!
The food was awesome - there was a bar w/ salads, cheeses, deli meats, shrimp, etc. & you could also choose an entree. :slurp:
Our waitress was from Norway & she couldn't speak much English. When we would ask her for something or talk to her, she would just smile & nod.
After dinner, we all met in the WS.
Then, we went over to the Boardwalk & looked around.
We were too full for the ice cream at Beaches & Cream (I guess we'll have to do that next year).
9/27/08
This morning, we went to our Grand Gathering breakfast at Tony's Town Square in the MK.
This was the most awesome breakfast!
Tony was great!
We also got to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, & Goofy.
Minnie even danced w/ my hubby - I was able to snap a pic - we all laughed for at least 15 minutes!
After the breakfast, we saw Mickey's PhilharMagic & then went back to the resort.
Ate dinner at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian - it was nice.
I was worried that it would not be as good w/ the character change, but it was better!
The stepmother was my favorite - she never cracked a smile (I don't see how she does it)! :zipit:
The stepsisters were funny too - they loved my 2 boys!
We got a big laugh when my daughter would not have anything to do w/ Prince Charming - she did not even want to pose for a pic w/ him.
Her little face turned red when he kissed her hand.
After dinner, we went back to the MK for some attractions & Spectromagic.
9/28/08
Back to DHS!
Ate lunch at Pizza Planet.
Visited some attractions including Indiana Jones, etc.
Ate dinner at Ohana's in the Poly. :slurp:
This was absolutely the best dinner that we have ever had at WDW!
They had shrimp, steak, etc.
The pineapple & coconut bread was awesome & I am not a fan of pineapple.
My daughter even got to dance the hula!
9/29/08
My hubby's birthday!
We ate a small breakfast at the resort, then we went to the MK.
That night, we had reservations for the 5:00pm Hoop Dee Doo Revue show - it was awesome!
One of the guys in the show looked strangely familiar to us - finally, we realized that it was Tony from the Grand Gathering breakfast!
I don't know which one was better - the food or the show.
Afterwards, we went back to the MK for Wishes on our final night.
9/30/08
Stayed at the resort today.
Packed up everything, ate lunch at the food court, etc.
Left on the DME around 1:00pm.
Plane took off from Orlando around 4:00pm.
We did get a surprise on the flight from Orlando to Atlanta - the pilot invited our kids to sit in the cockpit - I took pics. My daughter left her Alice doll in the pilot's seat & when I realized it was gone, I went back to the terminal & the pilot was holding it w/ a big grin on his face.
Extra Notes:
The weather was nice the entire 11 days (it wasn't too hot & it only rained on us once on 9/22/08). I acually got goose bumps on the evening of 9/25/08 as we took the boat from the MK to the WL.
The kids swam in the pool more than we did during our past trips. They really enjoyed that. Sometimes we would be at the park & they would beg to go back to the resort to swim.
We got to meet the Mayor of Main St. USA for the first time on this trip.
We took a pic of the kids w/ him. He was so funny!
We finally got Tink's autograph. I wish the fairies meet & greet had been open when we were there.
