Trip Report My 3 day Solo trip and MagicBand experience.

I usually stay at All-Star Sports, but when I was booking my room Pop Century said it was trying out the new MagicBand. So Pop Century it was. I booked ten days out from August 7th, 8th and 9th. Being so close to the arrival date the MagicBand would be waiting for me at the hotel, instead of being mailed out.
I picked the color green.

Solo cast is me:

I am an annual pass holder and live just 4hours from Disney so I go every couple of months for a few days. Most of the time it's solo. I like that because I can do what I want, when I want, etc. etc. I enjoy it.

I was able to link my annual pass to the MagicBand along with 3 fast pass selections per day and a dining reservation. It was simple. I took a pic of my fast pass times as a reminder since the wifi is so sporadic in the parks.

I got to Pop around 2pm on Wednesday. The check in lines were horrible. Super long. Except for those who had checked in online. That was me and I strongly encourage you to do that. Only 3 people in that line and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.

My band was waiting for me

It was personalized

It is fully adjustable, was very comfortable and my wrist never got hot or sweaty from it.

So off to find my room. I did 90s section. The complex is huge and this section was great because it is just a quick walk thru the parking lot to the bus stops.

Found it

The band is also your room key. Just tap it to the door receiver and like magic it unlocks. This was my home for the next couple of days.

More to follow. I have taken a lot of pics because I have always wanted to write a trip report, especially for the solo travelers. I will show you can have just as much fun. Hopefully the pics will post in this report.

Your trip report has been great so far, keep it coming. I had a chance to do a solo trip about 6 years ago while I was on a business trip, it was strange and I didn't like it at that time. Now fast forward 6 years with a wife and two kids and I wish I had the chance again. Being able to make it to two rides before a potty break or someone needing a snack would be heaven.

I can sympathize!

Mt Everest was really crowded. I decided to forgo my fast pass for this ride. I was too too full from lunch and didn't want to take any chances of it coming back up.

There is a good spot at the base to watch the trains so that's what I did for awhile .

Going up.

Coming down. I was impressed with myself. I thought this was a good pic.

After that, it was getting really hot and humid. I was getting tired so I skipped Dinoland and saw the Its Tough to be a Bug ride only had a 5 minute wait. A chance to sit and cool off.

Again, just slow down and look at all the details. So many just rushed by and didn't seem to look around.

It's a good show. The special effects are first class.

It was late afternoon and decided to head back to the room to take a well deserved nap. The rest of the evening I looked around Pop's gift shop and spotted these. You can customize you band even further. Charms, covers, you name it.

Then headed to the pool for remainder of the day. Time to head home in the morning.

So for me, the MagicBand was awesome. I didn't have any problems getting everything linked up or selecting and changing fast pass times. I can't wait for it to go live for everyone. It's just so much easier to deal than a paper or plastic ticket.

I hope y'all enjoyed my posting. Wether you go solo or with others, just go and have fun. Don't stress out over lines, crowds or anything like that. Disney provides a place for you to forget all about that for a few days, so take advantage of it.

And finally, remember that housekeeping said you are allowed to take the towel art home. Well this is a nice edition to my guest bedroom and a nice reminder of my trip.

Great job. I always feel like I rush through animal kingdom so I can go do something else that day. Maybe it's time to look around a little more.

Excellent report, you have changed my mind a bit on the FP+, when you explained how easily you changed your FP from BTMR to HM. Nice pics, too. Thanks for sharing!

That made me a firm believer I was going to like the new system. They just need to work on getting strong reliable wifi signals through out the parks so you can make changes quickly. I don't have a smart phone so I carry my iPad with me. The only signals I get is next to a main building and it won't stay connected very long.
Makes it frustrating when trying to look up wait times, etc. Now the wifi signal in the resorts are great. Strong connection throughout.
