MUST HEAR! "Virtual" Barbershop Booths - Circa 1980s?

Hi everyone :)

In the last few days, there has been this buzz going around the internet .. it deals with an Audio file (an mp3) that is truely amazing. In the audio file, you receive a "Virtual" haircut from two Italian characters.

On one message board, someone wrote:

Wow, what a treat. I first heard this at an attraction back in 80’s.
This audio clip played in three booths next to a ride in Tomorrowland at Disney CA. I remember being absolutely amazed. It turned into a kind of family joke as my dad had just decided to stop wearing a toupee and was going au naturale for our vacation.
Thanks for reminding me. I’ve sent the link on to my folks.

Does anyone who visited Disneyland in the 1980's remember this?

Here is the link, but you absolutely must wear headphones to listen to this. Trust me, it is worth the experience ... you'll love it.

One last time, don't listen to this unless you are wearing headphones!

So ... is this actually from Disneyland?

Enjoy!

I was in disneyland in october after sept 11 attacks. We went to the area right inside the park to the right where they did the walt disney story and i believe great moments with mr lincoln and they handed out red headphones to us and said it was a little test they were doing. We went in the theatre and i remember this clip as part of the show(or something very very similar). It made me jump when they whispered in your ear.

I don't recall Disneyland having this exact thing (although I could be mistaken). At Disney MGM Studios, at the exit to the sound effects show, they used to have this room that had all kinds of different types of movie sound effects. I haven't visited that specific attraction in quite some time, so I'm not sure if it's even still there. But in this area, they had about 3 or 4 booths that you would go into and shut the door and place headphones on. The lights would go completely out and the headphones would proceed to play an audio clip using this same (holophonic) technology. In that clip, you were in a movie producer's office waiting for a "big meeting" with "MM" (aka Mickey Mouse). One of the things that occured during this clip was that you got your haircut. This might be what the person on the other message board was thinking of when they said they remembered this clip.

The only thing at DL that I recall having used this technology was Great Moments with Mr Lincoln. You would put headphones on as Lincoln spoke and it sounded like you were among the crowd of people rallying at one of Lincoln's political speeches.

One other place where it is used is, of course, in Stitch's Great Escape at Magic Kingdom.
