Speaking from inexperience, I was wondering what some of your best tips are for buying and bringing along. I know about rain ponchos... and glo necklaces. What else? Are the water fan things really helpful? What are some good ideas for preschoolers? THANKS!

If you go during the summer the misty fan things are a life saver. I bought one last year for $20 while at the park and it was the best $20 I ever spent. Since you can get them at your local super store for like $5, it's a huge markup, but man, they feel good.

Sunscreen. Chapstick. Things like that you don't want to have to buy there because of the markup.

People who have fridges in their rooms often bring loaf of bread, cereal and milk to save some cash on breakfasts or lunches.

A lot of my accessories I bought at WDW but just bring back when I go. Like the bottle holder (has a slip knot type thing to put around the bottle neck of your soda or water and a strap you wear on your shoulder), or a wide brim hat. Since I live in Florida, I go for a day here and there as opposed to multi-days so picking up Disney merchandise for my day trips isn't as much of an expense.

It depends on who's going too. Family, kids, seniors, etc. as to what you'll want. Things like extra batteries for your camera or extra memory cards for dig cameras can add up in price too. Just think about what you'll want to have and if it's something you can bring with you to save on some cash. You can always rent a locker for the day to hold extras you don't want to have to carry around with you.

Anyway, I don't know if this helped, but I'm sure more people will have more suggestions.

The usual necessities: sunglasses, hats, sunscreen, money

Nice but not needed all the time: Camera (w/ batteries, film/memory cards) or Camcorder, Poncho, Fan, snacks, Pouch (can be a lifesaver sometimes)

I know my wife is picky about the water that she drinks, and buying bottled water there can put you in the poor house, so we always bring a water bottle with a purifier on it (the kind you get for camping). That always saves us a ton of money, and we always have something to drink (a neccesity we discovered after my daughter got a bladder infection during a visit). Hope that helps!

big hint : if you are going in the summer, yes you will want a misty fan. Buy them prior to your trip at a discount store and grab a BUNCH of batteries. Those little suckers are real power drains if you let the kids get a hold of them ;) but worth it.

Last football season, we were getting so hot during the games, I got a package of cloth diapers, wet them, then I put them in ziploc bags in the freezer. I wish I had thought of it for our WDW trip. They would stay cold all day long. As they thawed out it was so nice to wipe our faces with the cold cloths. This might could work if you either had a fridge with the small little freezer in the top. If your taking a cooler, they might last a while if you freeze them before you go and put them on the bottom and keep it filled with ice. I'm gonna try it when we go to Tenn in April.
One thing I found extremely usefull was taking a back pack with wheels on it. It was a real back saver. It held every thing our party of 5 needed for the day. I'd re stock it at night when we got back to the hotel.

Good, comfortable walking shoes that are pre-trip broken in. Don't wait to get there to break them in.

Bandaids for blisters are a must.

Autograph books with LARGE pens so the characters can hold on to them while signing. Must for the kiddos.

Small backpack to hold rain ponchos, water bottles, park passes, camera, etc.

Individual bags of chips/cookies will carry a small child's appetite for several hours and you will save money.

sunglasses, sunscreen, bandana (soak it in water and put it around your head/neck- makes the hot days easier to deal with, and you dont have to carry around one of those fans and batteries), good broken in shoes, preferably closed toe and waterproof, and earplugs (my family snores like you wouldn't believe)

Golf towel (the kind that hooks to your golf bag). Yank off the hook and fold that puppy over your belt. This is handy for wiping your face and hands, and also for wiping off ride seats if they're a bit wet (Maelstrom, Pirates, etc).

Hand Sanitizer gel. Very nice to have when your hand hits an unidentified liquid on a handrail. :hurl:

Go to a barbeque place or a KFC before you leave home and raid their stash of wet-naps. These are the individually wrapped moist towelettes. Nice to wipe your face to cool down.

I agree 100% with this one. And band-aids. You don't want to have to stop at First Aid. Actually, you won't want to WALK there, from all the way across the park, with a blister.

Someone already mentioned this but, I would like to stress how important chapstick or lip moisturizer is. The hot Florida sun, being thirsty and sweating can be murder on your lips and there is nothing more miserable than stinging, burning lips!!

Ziploc bags for the leftover food at many sit-down restaurants since the portions are so big. They make good snacks for children throughout the day.

I agree with the hand sanitizer. Also, most people don't do this, but you can usually get away with bringing in energy bars and sandwiches. I do it all the time. $6.20 for a veggie burger or nothing for the PB&J I packed before going? I'll take the latter, thankee kindly.

Lots of folks have mentioned band-aids and they are useful to have, but for blisters I recommend some pre-cut pieces of moleskin and guaze. I haven't needed it at WDW yet ( although we have it in our backpack), it has helped on several hiking trips....

A small bottle of hand santizer - about $1 at the drug store. Invaluable. Tiny too.

It's very handy in the parks, when you are touching and holding on to so many things (guns on Buzz lightyear, restraints on a fast ride) all day, it's really good to feel a bit cleaner and not have to find a restroom every few rides just to wash your hands.

Our family always takes a water bottle for each of us, and we put it in the freezer the night before so the water melts throughout the day and stays cold. You can also refill it from the tap and use the leftover "ice" inside to keep it cold.

We've also done this with juiceboxes for the kids and put them in the baby bag. Apples also make a good snack.

We've also brought a small bottle of bubbles for the kids when we are waiting in line--it helps pass the time for them.

Don't forget sunglasses!

what I always do,with my girlfriend, is bring a suitcase full of snacks:things for breakfast and maybe something a little bit heavier for when we go back and relax at the hotel. then we use that same suitcase for stuff that we bought inside of jamming it into an already full suitcase.
I always have 2 cameras, enough contact solution, a mini deorderant for after splah mountain, a mini pin holder(because those lanyards hurt after a while), a magazine or two for the plane ride, asprin, sunscreen, something to wear in case it is cool out, a full itenary that goes out the window once we get there, my ID so I can have a few while walking through the WS, quaters for the arcade at Pop Century-they have an awsome Star Wars game and an enclosed flight game.
