Ok. So last night we showed my daughter different resorts and she keeps insisting that she wants to stay at the music resort. lol. Which is about 2 grand cheaper. Any opinions?

We were gonna stay at the contemporary but she wants to stay at the music resort.

I'm fine either way. We will be going in late feb.

Looks like you've made up your mind, but I figured I'd weigh in...

We stayed at the Contemporary last summer and our girls (who were 2 and just turned 5 at the time) LOVED it. We stayed in the Garden Wing to save some $, but the rooms were huge (several sites list the rooms over 400sq ft), it was a super fast walk to the tower, and everything was SOOOOOOO convenient. The kids loved that MK was so close, that we had the monorail right there, and for whatever reason- they loved the bathtub. Crazy kids! We haven't looked at the Values b/c we can't do double beds, but when I showed the girls the Royal Rooms at POR, they said cute, but no. They wanted to go back to the Contemporary. I'm hoping they're not too disappointed when we surprise them with this trip and break the news that we've decided to try something new. In any event- the convenience was really worth it to us.

I've stayed at almost every resort, and if switching saves you two grand then damn you should take it! The only bad thing is the bus rides take forever, and the longest is to MK so if that's where u spend most of your time of stay at the contemp. Other then that I mean, you can do so much with two grand! Lol Disney is great no matter where u stay :)

Thanks! We actually just looked at the art of animation resort and I think we are going to stay there. It's still a whole lot cheaper and we showed her and she's so excited! I can't for out girls trip. It's gonna be great!

It seems your mind is made up. For me, the main benefits of a deluxe over a value are a balcony (I know some deluxe rooms don't have them - I'd be devastated not to get one!) room size and an indoor bar, which is important to me in cooler weather. None of those things will probably apply to you, and as this is your daughter's birthday trip it is important for her to have her say.

And $2000?? That is serious $$, and a huge consideration.

I'm sure it will be great wherever you stay :)

We did the same thing last year - let our son choose between a couple of resorts, and he chose All-Star Movies because he was (and still is) obsessed w/ Toy Story. He absolutely LOVED going out in the little courtyard with all the giant toys in the mornings. And, like you, we also spent very little time in our room, and the Value fit our needs perfectly. When my husband and I went on a trip alone, we stayed at a nicer resort, and we would definitely do that again if we went alone. Enjoy your planning, and have a great trip!

The All Stars are great. Besides, you're just going to be in the room to sleep. I don't know many that go on vacation to see a hotel room. LOL Go, stay at the All Stars Music, have fun. We stayed at the ASMusic Jazz section one year, and it was awesome. Nice atmosphere at night.

Jazz Inn is the best section as far as I'm concerned. Close to the main building and both pools but not a "preferred" rate or especially noisy. Sadly, since most were converted into Family Suites it is hard to get a standard room here anymore.

We decided to stay there because my daughter was in the Jazz Band in school and was dying to stay in this section. LOL It turned out to be really nice. And yes, the family suites did take a bunch of space, but we go in October so the impact is minimal.

I don't know your financial situation, but 2 grand is 2 grand! If you have no preference and your daughter would prefer to stay at ASMu, then I don't see why you wouldn't. I've stayed there on 2 trips and liked the resort just fine. We had a great time both trips. The deluxe and moderate resorts do offer more amenities but I don't think I missed out on any of the magic by staying at a value resort.

I agree! I think I would stay in a deluxe if it was me and another adult. We ended up deciding on September 2013 and we are gonna be staying at AOA in a mermaid room. I figured it will be warm enough for her to go swimming and not too crazy crowded.

AS Music is a nice motel-like atmosphere. Little ones love it! The Calypso Pool is nice. I would go w/ Art of Animation though ( not a suite). Maybe next time you can save up for a deluxe or moderate hotel. But beware, if you choose a deluxe resort, you may never go back to the values.
