Muppet Studios - DHS Land

I'm a BIG Muppet fan, so lately I've though of a few attractions for "Muppet Studios" which would take over the lower part of Streets of America (MuppetVision, Pizza Planet, Mama Melrose, Stage 1 Company Store).

1. Muppets LIVE!: This show would be The Muppet Show except the character will interact with you like the Laugh Floor in MK! (I'm sad to say that I want the original show to be updated)
2. Muppet Paint 'n' Play Theater: A clone of Goofy's Paint 'n' Playhouse themed to the Muppet Theater!
3. Muppet Mobile Labs: Streetmosphere of Bunsen and Beaker being permanent to 'Muppet Studios'
4. Meet Kermit! : At the exit of Muppets LIVE! you will be able to meet a physical puppet Kermit!

a. The Great Gonzo's Pandemonium Pizza Parlor: Gonzo, Rizzo, and the Swedish Chef make a Pizza Parlor. There would be a TV monitor with clips of the Muppets and every once in a while it cut into "And Your Food is Almost Done, here is the swedish chef" and would show the chef "cooking" live.
b. Muppet Mart: A FULL muppet store
c. Muppet Whatnot Factory: Personalize your own Muppet in this Factory

What do you think? This approach is more of a land with interactive attractions rather than rides, and will completely immerse yourself into the Muppets and feel like they're real and in front of you!

Yes. Yes. Yes. More muppets is never a bad idea. The muppets came up in the Carsland thread, but got passed over since so much was going on there. I would definitely support this move. The restaurant would be great and some smaller attractions could fill in nicely. Best part is they could do this for very little cost so it may actually be feasible.

If we wanted to shoot for the moon they could build a muppets dark ride too. Something like this would be outstanding:

a. Smorgesborg: Table service restaurant with your meal prepared by The Swedish Chef, and the Muppets (in puppet form) will be carried around (sitting on a cart) for meet and greets.
b. Untitled Muppet Store: A FULL muppet store including a Muppet whatnot factory (considering that only half of Stage 1 Company Store is Muppet-themed) (replacing Stage 1 Company Store)

Muppet Vision is one of my favorites. I’m a sucker for that slapstick kind of humor … Gonzo, Fozzie, the Swedish Chef, Beaker, et al. Like all your ideas, but we need something for Statler and Waldorf (old guys in the balcony) in this new land????

Yeah! They can still be incorporated animatronic form in the new "Laugh Floor-ish" version of Muppet-Vision.. (Which would no longer be that name it'd be Muppets LIVE!)

Having them comment/insult members of the audience would be something I’d like, but might cross some lines. Think they’d best focus on other Muppet characters and each other.

I think they could do it and be pretty tasteful and not really insult anyone. They could pick on people wearing shirts or hats from Universal or Sea World or other parks. It would make my vacation to have the old men on the balcony rip on me. When I was a kid my brother wore a Busch Gardens T shirt to MK and our Jungle Cruise captain kept giving him a hard time. He ended the ride with "if you had a good time my name is captain Jim and enjoy your time at Walt Disney World. If you did not have a good time welcome to Busch Gardens". We still talk about that.

One Little Spark...
I'd love to see a "Muppet Studios" fleshed out. That would be fantastic, and in line with the "Pixar Studios" they already have at the other end.

In fact, building on that, I'd love to see them theme out the whole park with different "studios" themes, similar to the sections of Magic Kingdom. There could be LucasFilm Studios, Muppet Studios, Toontown with a Silly Studios (old mickey cartoons, etc), etc....

Can’t disagree with you …. I personally would get a kick out of it. Maybe they could have a generic dialog at the entrance to this new land …. keep moving nothing to see hear, oh my! can you believe these people are coming to hear Miss Piggy sing ... must be first-timers, wake me when the shows over, there’s a Busch Garden tee ….. excuse me .. you’re apparently lost, excuss me sir .. are those your real ears?

If you have some time read this article. This is from Jim Hill and was written in 2001 so it's dated, but still relevant to this conversation. This is part 5 of a 5 part series documenting the troubles between Disney and Henson over the Muppets at MGM Studios. If you have the time and are actually interested in the history the first 4 parts are really good too, but part 5 focuses on the design and details of the Muppet Movie Ride itself. To say this ride would be amazing would be an understatement. The idea is brilliant and it would be entertaining as well as funny. The plans for this have to be laying around somewhere collecting dust. I know it's a pipe dream, but it would be amazing if this came along with the Pixar stuff. DCA got more than just Carsland. They got a full park makeover. You never know.

I would've put The Great Muppet Movie Ride but there isn't much expansion room for a large dark-ride so instead I took the approach for land to be all interactive like how you can paint the theater in Muppet Paint 'n Play Theater, or how you can eat Swedish Chef's food, or how you can meet Kermit The Frog physically in person (on my bucket list), or how you can watch Bunsen and Beaker's latest experiment at Muppet Mobile Labs which is roaming the streets, or how you can participate (and get insulted by Statler and Waldorf) in the Muppet Show during Muppets LIVE!.

This land (or mini-land) would push the boundaries in theme park interaction and every single step of the land it would feel like you are with the Muppets.

EDIT: From an old article on the Gonzo restaurant "For this is the place that Muppet fans would have killed to be able to eat at: The Great Gonzo's Pandemonium Pizza Parlor.

The backstory for this eatery was simple: Just like Arnold, Bruce & Sly did in the early 1990s, Gonzo & Rizzo decided to go into the celebrity restaurant business. They hired the Swedish Chef to run the kitchen for them. And the rest ... Well, while it wasn't exactly history. But it was still going to be great fun.
The walls of this restaurant -- just like the interior lobby area of "Jim Henson's MuppetVision 3D" -- would have been covered with recreations of props from various Muppet movies. TV monitors would hang down from the support beams of the restaurant. Just like in Planet Hollywood, diners would get to watch clips from various Muppet movies and TV shows. Every so often, there'd be a live broadcast from the kitchen -- where Gonzo & Rizzo would assure that things were going great and that our food would be out shortly.
Only -- based on what was going on in the background of these scenes that were supposed shot in the kitchen -- things were clearly *NOT* going great. We'd watch as lobster banditos escaped from their pots and held the wait staff hostage, or observe as the Swedish Chef was suddenly attacked by a very large -- and very lively -- mound of pizza dough. Better yet, we'd watch as Carmella was suddenly sucked up into the exhaust fan over the stove, then watch as Gonzo climbed in after her. Then -- out in the main room of the restaurant -- we'd laugh because we could hear Gonzo & Carmella in the air conditioning ducts right over our heads, stumbling around in the dark, trying to find one another.

You see? The Great Gonzo's Pandemonium Pizza Parlor -- with its kitchen doors that would occasionally belch open, sending great clouds of smoke and chicken feathers into the dining room -- was going to be a great place to eat while visiting the Muppet Studios section of Disney / MGM."

Plus, this land is in TDO's taste which is "not expensive" (Electronic Shooting Gallery with a screen, New Laugh Floor-ish attraction, maintenance for Bunsen and Beaker animatronics, puppeteers for restaurant, and new facades/theming) and "next-gen" (Interactive characters)

I like your idea and it would be pretty easy to implement without major changes.

If we are dreaming I would carve out a small area from the LMA area that is proposed to go to Carsland and fit in the dark ride. If you look at the map there is a large building behind backlot express that could be cleared to make way for this. Maybe if the muppet studios back right up to the backside of the mountains of Carsland they could create a "mock" Mount Rushmore with Kermit, gonzo, fozzi and ms piggy carved in the back side of the mountain. This would only be visible from the Muppet area and would have some zainey problems or something funny going on with it that would be classic muppets and make it funny.

That still leaves the backlot tour area and several other buildings for the other Pixar Place expansions. Monsters inc coaster and stores, restaurants and maybe a few smaller rides. Realistically I know this probably won't happen, but if they got a little creative I think it might all fit.
