Anything that Disney can stay on top of and develop themselves instead of leasing rights to (ahem...revolutionary robotic arms...) is a plus. But MuppetVision is priceless, especially the pre-show....I'd say update the effects and then kee pthe script. I can't imagine them doing anything but ruining it.

Just wanted to point out that the people who often get the most enjoyment from these types of things are children; you may not engaged by a mechanical dinosaur, but it's hard to gauge the impact that seeing what appears to be a real, live, walking dinosaur would have on a small child. Knowing how much I loved dinosaurs as a kid, I imagine it would've been a pretty spectacular and powerful experience for me had Lucky been around when I was that age.

First post. Scared. Don't wanna get eated. But to begin.

I am an avid Muppet enthusiast (btw - I cannot spell). I have the movies, the toys, the first season on DVD, various and sundry episodes on DVD, and plushies. Yes, I'm that guy. However - I must say this:

I love MuppetVision4D. It's the bombshizzle. It's outdated, though. I'd miss it horrendously but I feel like for the sake of the parks, updating it would be good. It's unrealistic but I'd think a Muppet dark ride ala The Great Muppet Ride I've read about would be fantastic. I think it's a shame the Muppet have been so cast out of the mainstream - they need some reexposure and fast, but I wouldn't want it rushed. All this said, I'm finally about to broach a point:

I think MuppetVision4D should be updated/replaced with something more accessible and contemporary, but I don't think it should be rushed. There's nothing more frustrating than yet another Dumbo ride. I hope the Imagineers come up with something Muppet-true for the new millenium.

Unfortunately I never had the *chance to see "Lucky" or visit CA to see the muppet labs mobile. I don't know exactly how they interact with guests besides obviously picture taking.

But I think the concept is pretty cool...

Sorry Merf I have to disagree with you here I think that all the R&D being doing for these projects is totally justifiable and I'm all for it, I just hope that they are doing R&D the proper way and don't get beaten to the punch by a couple kids from MIT or else where because they short change that departments budget or lack fresh innovations from younger imaginers. Then they may end up not having access to this technology. (like other concepts) And off thread the Muppet vision does need an update maybe not the story but a good refurb which helps the effects better. IMO and since the currently own the rights to muppets again maybe expand on that part of MGM's muppet area a little more and while they are at it StarTours needs update TOO!!!!

I cannot help but agree there - holy goodness! There have been 3 new Star Wars films since this attraction opened and they haven't really done enough to capitalize on it - does anyone know if it's a rights issue? Or do they just feel "It's Star Trek...err,Wars! Stars Wars and people's come no matter what!"?

I spent more time looking at more videos of the Muppet Mobile Lab and I'm really beginning to wish they would at least bring it to MGM. I honestly think, as a big muppet fan, that this would be a great addition to a park that is currently pretty boring. It's such amazing technology (especially to a guest who doesn't go very often) that hopefully will be incorporated into the parks in the very near future. The crowds love the streetsmophere at MGM, they huddle around them all the time and I always hear laughs and cheers. Imagine the same thing....except with Muppets.... Amazing.


By the way, if they update Muppetvision, it better be good. I think the film is outdated and I hope if they decided to change it, they wouldn't stoop down to fart or burping jokes (I know they can do better). This video in my opinion captures the humor of the Muppet franchise in two short minutes with only two characters.

They just use people that you don't necessarily see to control them. The same thing they do for 'push' the talking trash can.. the talking tree in DAK... crush, etc.

that's what Push is... these are a bit more advanced because the systems are more like robots in their ability to right themselves, etc
