Mummy Previews end this Saturday!

Just a word of warning folks... Revenge of the Mummy will be closing its doors on Saturday night for the installation of the animatronics. Word has it the ride will re-open for a more official soft-opening within three weeks, or whenever the ride is at 100 percent. Those of you in the area who wish to ride must get to Universal this Friday or Saturday to catch it.

I would say almost for sure closer to the 14th. The official opening day is May 21st, I believe, and I imagine they will want to do at the very least a good week's worth of run-throughs with all the effects installed. Most things are set and working and have been tested and tweeked over the past weeks, with the exception of the animatronics to be added and some other little things here and there. Andy said it might take 3 weeks before they reopen for an "official" soft-opening ,which would place it reopening on May 8th. So there is a good chance, but probably try closer to the end of your trip for a really good chance. However, as always, there are no guarentees.

I watched The Mummy Returns on TV tonight and now I know for sure I want to check out the ride at Universal. When I went at the end of February, the construction walls were still up and I was creeped out a little looking at the building. But I've heard good things from people who have previewed it so far, so I know I need to check this one out.

I'll have to give my friend who works at Universal a call soon so she can hopefully hook me up with a pass one day and we can check it out together. She promised me a proper day at the parks soon anyway because when I went at the end of February it was mainly to see Chic at Mardi Gras. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I'll be at Universal on May 15th and 16th (Saturday and Sunday), do you guys think I'll be able to ride ROTM on those dates? I've heard people on other message boards claiming the doors will stay shut until May 21st. Oh well, If I miss it, I will just have to plan another trip and wait 'til then. -Stephanie

Nobody knows for sure when it will reopen. The rumors on the down time for Mummy stretches from 2 weeks after it closed all the way up to right before May 21st. However, I'm positive they will have some type of test run throughs before its grand opening with everything installed....but it may end up just being AP previews.
