Multiple Magicbands??

We are headed down in two weeks and I got to wondering about having multiple magicbands active at the same time. I see that my band from our trip in 2015 lists as active and I just received our new ones for this trip. Will both bands be usable at the same time? I would love to have an extra band for access to our room for other members of our family who will be staying at the same resort. The same goes for my sons band from our last trip that holds all of his scavenger hunt levels that he achieved last time.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
All bands active in your MDE account can be used interchangeably. I currently have over 20 on my MDE account and every trip put usually a different one on each day to go with park or outfits and have had no issues so does DH. :)

Yes each person can have as many as 6 "active" MagicBands at a time. More than 6 can cause the system to be wonky (meaning some or all bands won't work properly) so it's best to deactivate the oldest bands if you have more than 6. Active bands can be used interchangeably.

To clarify, the bands do not "store" any information but merely point back to your My Disney Experience account. So your son's scavenger hunt levels are in MDE and it will not matter which band he uses.

I know a lot say over 6 can have issues but I have 22 to be exact and DH has close to that too and haven't run into any issues yet with that many on our accounts and they are all still marked active too. Once we have issues I'll remove some. Watch just because I said that the next visit we will have a problem. Haha! ;)

Will agree with the others have pointed out in that I have many bands (lost count and too lazy to open MDE right now to find out :D ) You shouldn't have any issues with the number of bands.

The older bands long range battery is likely dead. It will still work on most everything but it will not always link your on ride photographs and some things like that, but it will work to open doors, fastpass and all of that type of stuff.

If it's just from 2015 it likely still works for long range. They say they average 2 years but I have some that worked for long range that were over 3 years old. So they might still work for long range. :)

Only thing to be concerned with is the age of the band if you are doing a photopass. If your band is too old the battery in it could be dead and then you wont be able to get the things like the mine train video.

Correct if the battery dies which I have yet to have one that did yet. But good news if that happens you can call Photopass customer service or send and email and they can add the missing items to your MDE account if you know the day and roundabout time. They are great at finding lost pictures and videos. :)
