Mug Question Posted With Hesitancy

I know posting about refillables is like stepping into a room of asps and cobras. So bear with me. :wave:

I am just wondering, now that YOMD is over, if the new designs come in more than one color--at least the lid, once more. Apparently, the handles weren't enough to stop me from mistaking a mug and having a sip of regular cola when my mouth was all set for hot chocolate. I learned that sudden and unexpected, ice cold, sugary carbonation kind of feels like needles pricking your mouth when expecting something uncarbonated and warm.

What I did not learn was to distinguish the handles very well compared to lids in the past. A different colored lid for everyone is the safest form of beverage consumption for me, obviously.

I've never had the problem, but if they don't have different-coloured lids you could always take some brightly-coloured stick-on dots and affix them to the lid of your mug to distinguish it from others'. Or maybe some stick-on google-eyes? :lol:

did you not notice you were filling your drink mug from the soda fountain? the hot chocolate dispenser looks nothing like the cola machine.... im a little confused as to what you're trying to get at. The mugs can be used for soda, coffee, or hot chocolate...

The OP grabbed someone else's drink instead of her own hot chocolate in her own mug.

I have done that and I don't like soda - not a pleasant taste when you are expecting something completely different.

Exactly. During our trips there are usually mugs on every flat surface of the resort room. Plus I'm an Official Toddler Wrangler, which means I'm basically in a constant state of distraction and chaos.

I'm also just curious about the mugs since we collect them. I'm being half tongue-in-cheek. I liked the purple POR designs and in theory the YOAMD silver and blue.

But seriously, I'm very interested to see the new mugs as well and am SO hopeful they'll be out for my trip, but it's not looking good. It seems like I'll have another set of blue cloud mugs.

I hope not, We leave March 1 and I have at least 8 of the other ones(YOAMD) I really want a new design. :shrug: but I know what you mean, I try to have everyone use their own mug too.

I have done that several times, grabbed my husbands mug and thought it was mine. I have smartened up though...I peak through the little hole just to make sure :lol:.

I'm really only judging by my 2007 trip. I went the first week of February and I was lucky enough to get some ASMovies resort mugs, when just a few weeks later I was seeing the YOMD mugs on here.

Now I'm going back, leaving next Thursday (1st week of February) and I'm still only hearing of YOMD mugs. *sigh*

But if you get some new ones, you better post pictures! :lol:

I am going 3/18/09....any chance they will have the new mugs? We are kind of "collectors". Call me crazy but I like to take my coffee to work in a different Disney mug everyday. Makes me feel Disney-ish.

I also use mine at work...I work at home. They are also useful for keeping water on a bedside table at night, sharing drinks with small children in a mall, the list goes on. I guess if they still have the blues, I'll just get a replacement. Mine is faded from being in the car and because it's a YOAMDC mug. (Year of a Million Dishwashing Cycles)

Trails End. It's a long walk if you are not close by or have a golf cart!

At FW I never saw them at Trails End but did see them at the pool snack bar. As far as telling them apart....I always hace taken a few of those Dymo label maker machine tags with everyones name. Then just stick it on when you get a mug. Not only does it tell yours from others in the family but if you take it to the pool or take your eyes off it for one second at the drink bar you will be sure you have yours...
I liked the older fatter mugs. You could hide a couple bucks in it for when that snack urge hits at the pool.
