Thank you! I always see the opposite of this statement on those "You know you are from Jersey when..." type lists. I've lived my entire life no more than 20 minutes from the nearest beach. I have never once said I was "going to the shore" or anything close to that. It's a beach...and that's where I am going! :lol:
I may be one of the few non-beach people that "gets it"
I have friends in beach towns - Lavalette, Toms River, Brick, etc. and I spent (and sometimes still spend) plenty of time "at the beach" Most people from this area still refer to it as "going down the shore", but if you take them to anywhere else - Florida, California, the Carribbean, etc it becomes "the beach" It's all very confusing.
Here is a test for everyone. How do you pronounce the town of Forked River. Chances are you got it wrong
