Mt. Everest

Boy there's a lot of rumors merging together these days...

First off, there is no Australia and and there probably never will be one in the next 20 years. I don't know how that one resurfaced, but it should be put to rest.

Beastly Kingdom is dead too, in case anyone was about to bring that up. ;)

As far as Forbidden Mountain/Mt. Everest/Here Come Da Yeti goes, I'm gonna have to say that I won't believe it until I'm riding it. Even if an official announcement is made (although I'm not putting much money into any big media event, it may just be a press release type thing until an opening date is set. Just look at the big letdowns caused by Test Track and Mission Space), the probability of it bring delayed until further notice is pretty high if Spring Break turns out to be a bust. Just look at Beastly Kingdom, it had an official pre-announcement*, artwork and everything.

The good part about all of this is that this project really is further along down the pipeline than Beastly Kingdom or Fire Mountain ever was. I'd actually give it about a 40/60 chance of at least being officially announced, which is much better than the 01/99 chance that Beastly Kingdom has of ever becoming a reality.

* Meaning that it is confirmation that this is a project they are working on.

just a question about the whole "beastly kingom" ideas though... do you truly believe that there is that little of a chance that there will one day be a beastly kingdom, or something of the same nature?? -the only reason i am so cosistent about the "beastly kingdom" idea is because of the fact that on a recent trip to animal kingdom (just about 2 weeks ago) the dragon was still the prominent center piece of all of the AK logos, [which by-the-way were to be found EVERYWHERE] anyway, thats the only reason i question that there could be a beastly kingdom type land coming for AK. -I mean seriously, think about it dont you think that by now that infamous dragon would have been taken off both the ticket counters and the AK logo. -the dragon on the logo could easily have been replaced by now with another animal.

in my opinion, the fact that the dragon is still everywhere is a way of disney imagineers subliminally telling us that a dragon themed something [wheter it be an attraction, or an entire new land] is coming! ...or at least it is as of now... but thats just me! :p

Yeah, that used to be my hope, also. Until someone pointed out that on newer logos for AK, the dragon is gone. And as far as Disney changing the logos with the dragon, well...money is money. I'd rather see money that would be spent on changing the logos go into another e-ride in AK.

I'm coming to the point where I don't care what kind of ride it is (okay, I do) but AK is in DESPERATE need of an E-Ticket. I love the park and I spend the full day whenever I'm there so I'd go regardless, but still, something extra would attract more people. I'm not sure about this and correct me if I'm wrong but, wasn't Disney-MGM Studios in the same shape when it first opened? That developed into a nice park over the years. Come April, I hope that we hear something about Mt. Everest/Forbidden Mountain. Oh yeah, maybe an Indiana Jones ride would be nice too. (okay, now I'm getting out of hand.)

whats an e-ticket
An e-ticket ride or attraction is a reference to a time when you received a ticket book when you purchased your entry ticket into a Disney park. In the ticket book, there were A through E tickets that gave entry to the different rides and attractions. E tickets were entry into the better attractions, like HM, POTC, COP...the attractions that had the highest level of WDI work and theming. Once inside the park, you could buy more tickets as you needed them. Eventually, it just became one entry price which covered all attractions.

So when someone refers to an E-ride or E-ticket ride, it's something that has the best and brightest of Disney in it (we hope).

Hope this helps.

A FAST PASS ride is an e-ticket attraction. :king:

As for the whole Forbidden Mountain / Mount Everest thing, then I am all for it and will even go as far to say it's gonna happen. Well I hope so anyway! :slurp:

You don't want them to announce in April, nothing is really going to be there besides construction.

I know that there have been rumors about everything in the world, but my parents returned from WDW yeaterday morning and it was my Dad who brought up the topic of a coaster being built in AK. He was not talking about what he had heard, he was telling me what was being built as they were there. Specifically, he said that he was suprised because it is located where it will make a lot of the conservation station behind-the scenes stuff visible from the ride. We had talked before about how well Disney hides their behind the scenes operational stuff, but it seems as though the coaster will make some of those things visible. I don't have any pictures of the construction, but I have no reason other than to believe what my parents witnessed.

Additionally, they did not know anything in the way of a name because obviously the attraction was not advertised.

I guess we'll all find out soon enough...

Huh!?! Animal Kingdom? I don't know. Your dad might have been pulling your leg, or he was talking about Dino-Rama, which is already completed though. What do you guys think? Someone else reported that walkways are being expanded. What's with the recent flood of rumors? Can anyone confirm this?

Is this in reference to the e ticket discussion? E tickets were part of Disney's past when people had to buy a different ticket for each ride. E tickets were for the premier rides. The system was done away with in the early 1980s. Now people buy a pass for the whole day. People still use the old jargon.

Very litle of backstage will be visible from the ride, due to it's location and the fact that 80% or so of the attraction takes place inside the mountain.

See photo for approx. location.
