MSEP Opening Night

Some will. When we watch the parade from in front of Casey's we tend to migrate to the center of Main st for the fireworks.

Hopefully the CMs won't try to make us move from the street. I do this alot, but I have to praise DL Operations for the way they handle the fireword crowds compared to MK. Over there, if you are waiting for the fireworks you are allowed to wait on the entire street. The left sidewalk is used ONLY for people leaving the park, and the right sidewalk is used ONLY for people heading into the park. It works so much easier than the way MK tries to do it with keeping the center of Main Street going into the hub open because there are usually more people trying to get a good spot for the show than there are people moving about.

I won't be there, but it will be very busy. I was there the first day the Celebrate a Dream Come True parade ran last winter. It was crazy busy. Tons of CMs come out to supposrt their fellow CMs & to see the first run of it. I got to MK around noon that day & people were already starting to claim spots. It didn't start to get really hard to find a spot until an hour or so before the parade started.

Yoda how certain are you of the Saturday soft opening????
Definitely not 100%. It has been floating around the rumor mill for a while and the CM I spoke with when reserving the dessert buffet for the 6th seemed pretty confident about the soft opening on the 5th. I know that someone at the DRC is one step above bus driver but I'll take what I can get.

If anyone knows Boo52 I am sure he could at least confirm or deny the fireworks portion.

This came from the link posted above..

"Plus! That same night, Passholders* can check out the new Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Spectacular at 10 p.m., with special light effect viewing glasses, provided free to who? Passholders, that's who. Pick up your free glasses between 4 and 8 p.m. at the Rose Garden entrance near Tomorrowland® and enjoy the show."

What could this special lighting effect that requires glasses be?? Will they be selling these glasses to non-passholders for future showings?

i know the free glasses aren't anything special...but they always try to make things like that seem great for Passholders. So it looks like the run on Sunday will technically be the 3rd run of the parade, even though it's the official grand opening....

hmmmm....suddenly the novelty of the 6th is wearing off. :brick:

So does this mean most of you will be going to the PH preview on Saturday?

My whole plan (because MSEP is my favorite parade) was to be there for the first run. It was just a personal thing that I wanted to do for myself. As much as I like passholder previews, it kind of ruins the effect of a "grand opening." Just like the opening ceremonies at the parks...parks open at 9 with the ceremony, but sometimes you can still get in at 8 for EMH or for Fantasyland Mornings or whatever those are called!

That being said, I think we'll still be attending the Sunday official first run but not really show.

wouldn't it be great if they would reserve a whole area for Passholder's on Saturday night for the shows??? I still wish they would treat those of us who spend $400 year after year for a pass better.

I will be there on both the 5th and the 6th but I will be at the dessert party on the 6th for the fireworks portion.

Please let us know if that is worth while. I'm curious to see if it's worth the price or not!

And i should probably Google this, but when I see your sig with "obey Wheaton's Law" the only Wheaton I can think of is Will Wheaton...and I'm not sure what law Wesley Crusher had!

In this particular instance the dessert party will be well worth the extra cash just not to have to deal with the crowds.

You are correct. It is Wil Wheaton from ST:TNG. The wdwmagic "safe" version of his law....Don't be a richard.
