Mr. Potato Head in action at DCA!

Well, you can't argue with that. DCA's facade had a lot of detail put into it, and it looks Midwayish. Ours does not. It looks like a studio building with brick pillars and a big, glass window.

And if it looked any different people would bemoan the fact that it doesn't fit the "Studio" motif.

There is absolutely no pleasing everyone.

Well...isn't that also a main reason why ours is just called Toy Story Mania...not Toy Story Mid-way maina....um Duh! :zipit::hammer:I like the look of ares it gives it a very grand look. I think DCA's looks soo small

Can someone explain to me how why Disney set designers would want us to walk through a giant, oversized Bavarian castle painted in pastel colors, and then we get on a small flying pirate ship and suddenly we are flying over London? IT MAKES NO SENSE?!?!
Or how there could be a huge medevil castle at the end of a 19th century American town?`Or a modern carousel in the center of a European village? IT'S MADNESS I TELLZ YA! MADNESS!!

:ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:StOP the MADNESS!! I'm boycotting until they make changes and remove that castle ...theming is SOO off!! hahaha

What about the rivers...they all go in circles!

The name for the river from Kali River Rapids in DAK is called the Charanda(close to that spelling at least) which means " River that runs in a circle" lolol! Seriously!

It JUST MADNESS! I don't know where they are going with things like this!! But it needs to stop!

Looks cool. Seems there might be some screens inside the car. I guess that how your score is displayed.

I'm wondering, will Mr. Potato be interacting all day every day, or will he "come out" and converse with people every now and then.

He will be out 24/7, and he'll always be going, but sometimes he won't be "interacting" as much, and he'll be on "Auto-Pilot" if you catch my drift.
:animwink:

and I REALLY hope John Ratzenberger will be doing the voice. Hamm is my favorite of all the PIXAR gang! So I'll be listening veryyy closely....

You're going to be disappointed again. Don Rickles is voicing Mr. Potato Head in the DCA version. I'm not sure if he's doing the WDW version too though, so there could still be a chance John is doing it, but I'm guessing that chance is very slim.

Don Rickles=Mr. Potato Head (for DCA and WDW)
John Ratzenberger=Hamm the Piggy Bank (still yet to be confirmed for WDW and DCA)

It's possible they will both provide voices for the attraction. As for Woody and Buzz, we will have to wait and see. I wouldn't be suprised to see Tim Allen as Buzz, as he did the Magic Kingdom attraction (If not him than Pat Warburton-who voiced Buzz for the TV series), and if Tom Hanks isn't Woody, his sound-alike brother would step in (again from the TV series). Keep in mind, with Toy Story 3 in production, it's possible the actors were readily available to recored a few lines for this attraction.

Not to take away from the DHS one but Laughingplace has a great update on the DCA one but also has some great info on Mr. Potato Head as well as what hes able to say.

Thanks for posting. The last scene with the high scores seems kinda...bleh, but hopefully the games will be fun.

Did they explain how/why the toys set up a toy play set on the midway? I know the first Imagineer said the toys did this while Andy was away. I guess the games are the main attraction, not the cumbersome story.

I was wondering the same thing too. How did the toys end up on the pier and in that building? Oh well I guess the rest of it makes since though. I have to say the building itself is very stunning.

One more quick note the first pic of the update shows DCA's as being Toy Story Midway Mania.

This was a great video. It is nice and long and tells us a lot about this upcoming attraction. One thing though, the people selling or pitching the ride did a terrible job I thought. Now I don't know these imagineers or their history with the company but I thought that Chrissie Allen was boring, non-enthusiastic, and didn't show any excitement for the attraction. It was more like your first day at a job and your jaded supervisor is trying to teach you about customer service. I understand they probably sent the higher up imagineers to do this press conference, but it was too stiff for me.

I loved how the reporters were trying to get the second Imagineer to give up the secrets behind the attraction and he just kept on saying "it's magic", "those aren't lasers or lights, they're actual baseballs, darts, arrows, etc.".

I thought that Chrissie was boring, but Kevin(?) was alright. He got really got into the whole Potato Head thing.
