Moving to Orlando...

Traffic is the one of the most relative things out there and the comparison will be different for nearly everyone. If you currently live in a somewhat more rural area or small town with limited traffic, it can certainly seem nuts. In the 10 years before I moved to Orlando I lived in Ft Lauderdale and Dallas, so Orlando traffic is occasionally annoying and that's the extent of it. Most of the time, I just don't find it that big of a deal; It's all about the baseline you're comparing it to though.

That however, is a very good example of what I was referring to in the earlier post about getting a feel for the neighborhoods you might be considering before making a decision. If your threshold of pain for traffic is very low, there are lots of of the Orlando metro area you should avoid.

True. And, our traffic-pain tolerance has changed over the years. We survived DC area madness, but now, as we've gotten older, we find we just don't want to deal with it on a daily basis. We still plan to rent first (close in to WDW if possible) so give us time to decide where in Central Florida we want to settle...or if we want to stay in that area, at all. We're looking forward to checking out the area in 37 days.

Well 2 months in and i don't have any ambition to move back north yet.

So far my lessons learned are:

* No matter how pretty people think bamboo is never buy a house that has a lot of it.
* Stay away from I-4....all the time
* Dragonflies may be a state bird
* Having a AP is awesome but not so awesome when there are 4 million people that have tickets on the same day you go. Stay away until September.
* Rum drinks go down smooth all the time here.

I moved here 3 months ago, I live in celebration basically right at the door step to Disney. It's a great place to live and have fun. I don't have to deal with i4 much. The area around Disney is screaming need for a rail system but the backwards gov just ignores the need. Outside of that it was a good move.
